2018 BMW M3 CP  [10.00]
I had a 2012 535d GT M Sport before (335d saloon before that) and when that was due for a change this year the 3 GT soon became the only sensible option. I want performance, economy & space (2 boys heading toward 6' each and ideally the need to fit a drum kit in with 4 people). I did look at an M3 (ditching the need for space, but I do 30k miles/annum and I decided that although the economy is now pretty good the range would still annoy (two refuels on a typical journey would get annoying). So that left the 3 GT (personally I just don't like tourers and why go without the space when the GT delivers most of the dynamics of the saloon).

It has not disappointed - in reality it has more boot/trunk space than the 5 GT (which really was too big - a foot longer and noticeably wider when threading through narrow gaps). The only downside compared to the 5 GT is the rear comfort (although it nearly matches on legroom) - bench seat vs sculpted, more recline adjustment, 4 zone climate control, less headroom (though still OK for 6 footers).

Then there's the 0-62 in 4.9secs (wet or dry), 41mpg+, xdrive (no more getting iced/snowed in and watching everyone else easily get out of my road), decent handling... No other car delivers that along with a 20%+ discount (because no one else seems to like them)... Would I consider it without the 335d? No, the 335i has near enough the same economy limitations as the M3 so I'd have gone for the M3 (the 330d whilst good would feel like a backward step for me)...

Sorry
And to really, really rub it in, my 318D is averaging 56 mpg (UK gallon) and on a run figures in excess of 60 mpg are not unusual.

I was in the market for a new BMW to replace my current 3 series.

So I took a 5 series out for a test drive and was a bit uninspired for some unknown reason.

I didn't take to the 4 series as it is basically a 3 series that has been refined.

So I saw a 3 series GT took it for a test drive and loved every minute of it.

You don't see many of them because of the bracket in the market that it slots into.

Costs more than a 3 series tourer and a few less than a 5 series.

But I loved the room inside, the drive the looks of the vehicle and the uniqueness of the GT.

so I have put one on order, I should have it by the end or 1st week of November.

Really glad that i have found a forum that understands the concept of the GT and love the vehicle.

This section does, the others not so much.
I parked next to a new F30 yesterday. It's so tiny and low to the ground that my back hurt just thinking about trying to get into it, let alone trying to get back out again. It's what I would have gone for when much younger, but I'm old and I want comfort, dammit!

I moved from a 2006 325 mostly because I needed a new car. I chose the GT for the rear seat room since I have two kids. More space than the 528 and seemed to drive better.

Besides there are some dealers offering some great lease deals right now, if you look.

Hi,

I have an order number but no production number!

I have been told that my vehicle is at Stage 3, what ever that is.

They told me that my car is on the boat.

But I feel i will have my GT by near end of October.

I must admit to falling in love with the looks. I liked the coupe like styling. The space was also something I needed. My 320d saloon was just getting too cramped for my teenage kids.

Having taken one for a test drive, I found it just great for the type of driving we do and it still feels fun when I push it on when driving on my own!

We opted for a 320d MSport in Black Saphire, heated black leather and sun protection glass. Also had the sports gearbox and parking assistance and premium nav.

We have now had the car 3 months and are so pleased with it in all aspects. I see much criticism of this as not a proper BMW, but I was at a point where I may have abandoned the brand because we had outgrown the 3 saloon and touring and I couldn't quite run to the 5.

I can certainly imagine buying another when this one is ready to go!

Welcome,
Some people have it in their minds that a car must look a certain way to be called a "good car".

They are so wrong the F34 is all car and some. So glad that you are enjoying your GT.

You notice the thing that we all noticed like the styling, ride space.

Welcome to the GT club

Recently drove a 328i and can tell you I have no idea why the general criticism of the GT. Granted I have the completely loaded 335X GT , but I prefer the body style and drive of the GT over the 328i. Of course, actually having back seat room is a plus.

LOVE my GT!

I owned an X3 but wanted something nicer (ambiguous term that encompasses many features) and when I saw the 5GT I liked the concept but was not totally pleased with the execution - did not look balanced to me. Fortunately, I noticed a smaller, more balanced BMW hatchback and began my research.

After a bit of Googling I KNEW this was the vehicle for me. Essentially a 5-Series but a balanced design.

I'm 6'1" with big shoulders and easy ingress/egress is very important; this car is much easier for me than a 3-series non-GT or any 4-series (I was surprised at the small size of the 4 Grand Coupe).

I love the frameless doors, cameras everywhere, the amazing giddy-up-and-go (sub-6 sec 0-60 is mighty respectable), simple to use i-drive and voice commands, decent MPG city, great MPG hwy, aesthetically pleasing, great road manners, kick ass sounds, bodacious sunroof, and easy loading/unloading with GOBS of room in the back (LOVE THE HATCHBACK - trunks are a completely illogical design). I even (easily) fit a 50gal water heater from Lowe's and closed the lid. The 'gentlemen' watching me load it were very skeptical but oooh'd and aaaah'd as the hatch thunked closed with authority. Last weekend it was a mobile stand and a 12" sliding compound miter saw that fit and I didn't even have to move the front seats forward in either case. Oh yeah, golf clubs fit better than in my old X3.

Finally, it's unique. I live in So Cal about 40 miles east of LA and I see loads of 3, 4 & 5-series but have only seen 4 other 3-GT's on the road since 11/2014. I enjoy the accolades from folks that ask me what kind of car it is and comment how beautiful it is. I was shocked when some skater punks stopped and said, "Cool car dude!". She also looks right at home alongside Porsche's, Ferraris, and Roll's when we valet park down in LA or OC.

I LOVE my GT.
