Hi,

I gott a say UPD 5062 came to the rescue!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone and purchased the media snap-in adaptor so when I am on long trips my phone is charging and using the car's antenna.

Until this update, it was a crap shoot whether the Connected Drive app worked or that the Bluetooth connection between phone and car worked OK. This update clearly rectified that!

If you install the updates does it erase any changes you have made through coding? If so which ECUS are affected?

No, it doesn't -- again, it really di help me!

Sadly still after this update, Pandora or any other app does not Change track info or album art.

Using the Music app on the iPhone however does work great. Music search, track listing, and album art all update.

I guess i'll be connecting to use pandora until it is fixed. Kind of annoying.

If the dealer updates istep i assume that will remove all my custom programming?

Also will i be able to update my programming back if i have E-Sys 3.23.4 and 51.3 PsdZdata? I only did basic things like turn off seat belt warning etc.

Unfortunately, you are correct; if the dealer updates your I-Step and programs your car's ECU modules, your coding will be lost.

First off, suggest that you upgrade your E-Sys, but urge you to avoid version 3.26.1 as I have read about many problems with it; I personally am still using version 3.24.3 without any problems.

As to what version of PSdZData you use, it really depends upon the I-level the dealer uses; please ask dealer for the programming info sheets -- they will show what I-Step they used. If you don't get that, then here's an alternative:

1. Connect your PC to your car with cable and E-Sys (wany version should do)
2. Click on the VCM Icon on the left side of E-Sys
3. Go down to the bottom center of screen and click on the READ button on VCM Master tab under I-Stepss
4. Write down the three I-Step levels (current, last & shipment) from the dialog box immediately above

Contact ShawnSheridan, using the Coding thread about download links (or something like that); in you post tell him what your current I-Step is and that you would like a current version of E-Sys and PSdZData

i had my 2015 f30 with navi (production date 11/14 i think) coded for Office/Enhanced bluetooth. currently my song info doesnt change when i stream pandora over BT, but it does work if i stream my phone music or pandora via USB.

not sure if this issue existed before i had it coded. i had some other features coded, not sure if that somehow gave me an older version of NBT software.

will this update remove any NBT coding (office, xvid playback, playback while in motion)?

Am not really sure as to the relationship of the UPDs and the coding. Think the UPD provides programming updates to telephone & media software used by H_NBT, while the coding we do really is about the "data" the programs use.

Let's put it this way. When I updated my HU_NBT with a UPD, the coding I had done to my HU_NBT was not affected, nor were presets -- and I have done this UPD update twice.

Just a little update to my situation. I had the dealer update the NBT to NBT_I and then reapplied the Bluetooth update and everything works great.

All info changes like it should. Glad this little annoying bug is fixed.

Wow, tried the latest today and it actually works! Not bad - after a year my BMW can now do what a base model Kia has been able to for years!

That is right. The software version of the iDrive NBT (Next Big Thing).

There are physical numbers associated, but the letter denotes the specific revision I believe.

You can find out which version you have by going to Navigation on the iDrive and then selecting the option key on the wheel. Then scroll down to Navigation Version for the version of software you have.

This version is nots specific to navigation however, but of the whole system. A little misleading.

looks like the issue with track info not updating went away

havent tested the supposed better integration of iphones

Indeed, NBT I or whatever refers to the software version in the NBT head unit and can be found under NAVIGATION menu, right click iDrive controller and click on SOFTWARE VERSION. You'll see information about your map version and centered at the bottom of the screen will be something -- in my case it is NBT_H14163B so I have NBT version H.

To add a little more (hopefully not to confuse), there are also versions of Media (MN) and Telephone (TN) software. About twice a year, BMW put an update (UPD) on this site: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/con...re_update.html. You enter the last 7 of your car's VIN and you can then download latest applicable telephone & media software updates; again in my case, I used UPD5062, which updated my Media & Telephone software to MN-2.255.60 (same for TN).

These are software (program) versions or updates. What we do when we code is really change the "data" the programs use -- so over time as software is upgraded, sometimes the "data" (choices) available to code change.

I did the update UPD5062 on my NBT_G but I still have the bluetooth issues.

Bluetooth connection is only stable if the phone is beside the NBT unit (Cup holder area). If smartphone is in my pocket then connection is lost.

Maybe a iStep level change will help.

Well I brought my car in and asked for a firmware update so I can apply the latest iDrive updates.

They say I'm up to date, but I believe they are confused or I'm not asking correctly. I suspect they are just running my VIN and it says there are no updates (for my version of I-step)

What I want is an NBT Firmware update, aka I-Step software update, is that correct? Is there some other way of describing this so they understand?

They also asked me to demonstrate why I want an update. My email notification in ConnectedDrive doesn't work. SMS does. Email notifications are on and show up on the locked screen, but iDrive doesn't pick it up. Would this be something that would justify an I-step update, so I could pick up the latest TN-xxx.xxx.xxx build?

Also, I read that some people now get a message on their dash display that the steering wheel heater is on. Was this something that came with an I-step update?

I am one of those who now gets the heated steering wheel message showing up on my dash and it was due to an I-STA/P update. I have found that if you have a reason, the dealer will update you; having said that, however, be carefulas BMW now has implemented trimmed data files which make it a little more challenging to code.

Well, no upgrade for me. I kind of think they don't even know HOW to update the NBT firmware.

It's not a huge deal at this point because I'm not really having any connection or Bluetooth problems with either my iPhone 6 or Nexus 6. Occasionally the artwork from my iPod/USB music source goes wonky, but I think that's more the iPod's fault. I seemed to fix this in iTunes. Probably the only legit problem I have is that I will sometimes do a voice activated search for an Artist or Album. The system recognizes what I said and even repeats it. But when it goes to play the music, it's something completely wrong. This ever happen to anyone?

I looked up my NBT version and if the letters describe the release, then mine is ancient. I am on NBT_B!!
