Exhaust for F30 320i?
Planning on getting a the new F30 320i and was wondering if there was an aftermarket exhaust for it?
I want the BMW performance exhaust but not sure if it will fit the 320i? I saw on some sites that there is a BMW Performance exhaust for the F30 328 and the 335 but does not mention the 320i. |

In general, the problem is that the midpipe in 320i is 60,2mm and in 328i it is 75mm. You can check RealOEM for details.
This is the reason BMW has not made it available for the 320i. Therefore also all the aftermarket exhausts will need modifing or an adapter but they should be OK otherwise to install. The 328i OEM exhaust will not fit directly due to above reason. I am getting mine tomorrow and will have it fitted probably next week so I can tell more (have been waiting for 6 weeks to get the 328i exhaust delivered). Also, you will need the 328i rear diffuser to be fitter for the twin tail pipes. This is a direct fit for the M Sport model. Part number 51128054198. Remus has a few options. You will need an adapter from them (Remus K7 adapter). Remus seem to be the only one who has made it available for the 320i.

I can now confirm that the M Performance exhaust will fit OK to the 320i. I got mine finally fitted.
As mentioned before you will need the adapter (60,2mm to 75mm) so you can use the standard exhaust pipe as well as the M Sport diffuser. Diffuser is a straight fit. The 320i does not however have the cablings for the exhaust flap/valve release so you will need to disable it. You can do the DIY - Exhaust flap mod (Golf Tee) or just remove the whole thing. I ended up removing the electronics and welded the nut so that the flap is always open. I am very satisfied with the results. With the stock exhaust I could barely here anything from the back but now there is a nice growl. Some pictures attached.

But it goes between the correctly cut exhaust pipe (60,2mm) and the pipe coming from the exhaust (75mm). You can (barely) see it in the below picture where the red circle is. The other picture is a screen shot from the Remus page descriping the adapter, which is 10cm long. I will try to borrow friends GoPro next week to take a sound clip but I think it is pretty much the same as in the 328i you can see in this thread. Actually I think it might a bit quieter due to the exhaust pipe being a bit smaller diameter and probably the muffler in the pipe is bit more restricting. It would interesting to find out if the whole exhaust pipe could be changed all the way from the downpipe to the exhaust with the 328i or an aftermarket pipe.

Looks good Jcastle!
How much did you pay for the parts and where did you get the adapter. I checked Remus website, and they want 82 euros in shipping for a 24 euro adapter... |

My reason going for the exhaust was that you get much more than just the looks..

The 320i does not have the electronics/cables to connect i.e. nothing that can give codes.
The standard exhaust does not have the "electronics box" and/or the flap.

Hi jcastle, so if I also change the mid-pipe of my 320i, do I still need the adaptor please? I saw some mid-pipe options from Afe and Eisenmann, just wonder if these would work for 320i also? Thanks!

Unfortunately I have no idea if the 328i mid-pipe will fit from the front end. At some point I tried to investigate but didn't find a 100% answer. I have the assumption it will be OK.

Thanks jcastle. I checked RealOEM that the downpipe of 320i and 328i are exactly the same so I tend to think it may work - but don't wanna take risk.
If I go for the rear only with an adaptor, which brand would you recommend please? I'd like to have either the L/R dual (like 335) or quad layout. Mainly for outlook and a bit musclar noise. Performance isn't a big concern. Thank you! |

hey guys!
I want to buy a m sport exhaust for my f30 320i, but the rear diffuser is an entire piece, so I would have to buy the whole rear bumper? If I decide to cut the 320i rear diffuser, do you know how is the best way to do it? Do you have any place that I can find the exhaust? I've seen some at ebay but I don't know if that price is right... thanks a lot! |
