Changed mufflers, good or bad?
ive had my car since feb 2013 and im just trying to figure out if what i did was a good idea. f30 335 - i put flowmaster mufflers on it, i didnt wanna spend for a full system. it sounds good, turbos are louder so i guess theyre breathing better? i recently got downpipe and jb4 stage 2 and the car is a monster. huge difference. im pretty sure i have the fastest f30 around my area, lol. let me know what you think

"Turbos are louder"? Last time I checked, my 2013 335i had one turbo and it makes no exhaust noise; without modifying the intake, there'd be no increased intake noise either. Also, how did you get two mufflers on a single-muffler exhaust system? I'd venture you didn't install any of these things (except maybe the JB4) yourself. Your next visit to the dealer for service should be quite interesting.

Without any quantitative before/after measurements (data logging from the jb4 and dyno runs would have been great) it would be hard to say.
The only real technical concern I would have is that there may be too much (or too little?) back pressure. But if the car seems to run right and does not throw any codes (other than if you unplugged the exhaust flap module) you will probably be ok. |

How exactly does a new muffler make the turbo louder (N55 only has one)? I have the MPE and I don't hear it at all. The F30 has ONE muffler, and you're dreaming if you think the dealer won't notice or care about the mods, especially the jb4. Speaking from experience here...

Yeah it voids warranty and it would not pass the emission test unless you get high flow downpipe with cats. I have the catless one, I took my car to the dealer and they said nothing about the mufflers, so I'm guessing they won't care about the DP unless your dealership is strict

If the dealer looks under his car, sure they will notice the two mufflers but no they won't care. And as long as he sets the JB4 to map0 for routine maintenance, he'll be totally fine. Now if he has a major repair to go in for, he'll probably need to take the jb4 out to be safe.
