convert my friend's 6.5" iDrive to 8.8". We also did OEM backup camera retrofit. When the gear is in "R", the backup camera works perfectly, but, it keeps showing "Rear view camera failure" in kombi. Here is what we done,

1. OEM "All round vision" module. Bought this module from ebay and test it on a frined of mine's car, it works great.
2. We put the module in right hand side of trunk
3. +12V is connected to F174.
4. Ground is attached to the battery "-"
5. 3 wires to NBT head unit big black connector, 21,23 and 24
6. 2 wires to FEM 173*7B 33 & 34
7. Connect custom made HSD cable from the module to the camera.
8. Add 3AG to FA and VO code NBT, TRSVC, FEM and REM.

Shift the gear to "R", it works perfectly, except showing "Rear View Camera Failure" in kombi.

Need suggestion.

I had the same issue with my rear-view camera retrofit.

I had to reset the TRSVC ECU and delete all errors using Rheingold.

Btw, did you install the center console switch?

is the kombi message "rear view camera failure" or "rear view camera malfunction"?

most likely the issue is the custom made HSD wire. However, could also be a bad camera. I have a camera that causes " malfunction" messages just about every time it gets wet.

I did not install the center console switch. Will you suggest to install it?

I would suggest you to see the error codes in Rheingold to find the culprit for your issue. If the console switch is mandatory, it will be stated there.
