help me understand something please

So I picked up this beauty 3 weeks ago when I had to cancel my order since it wouldn't arrive on time.....2013 335i m-sport....the car has the driver assist package but not the driver assist plus.....but I have the lane change warning (the one with the radar in the rear) but not the lane departure warning that I know of (the front sensors)....what's up with my car? did i get the lane change system by mistake?

No, that's the way it's supposed to be. What you got was Lane Departure Warning which is a part of the Driver Assist package. That uses, as you stated, radar in the rear to scan for cars that are either in your blind spot or would be in your blind spot by the time you made a lane change.

Lane departure warning uses a camera in the front to look at lane markers on the road. They're completely independent systems.

Looks like you probably got a car originally meant for the States or some other market, since over here the Driver's Assistance package comes with blind spot detection, cameras, and PDC, but not lane departure or speed limit display.

Oh whoops, I didn't notice that you weren't in the US, my bad. Yeah, as mentioned above, here in the US they are separate packages.

Note that Lane Departure Warning and the Speed Limit Info use the same camera sensor. If that were charged separately, well, then the only excuse is BMW wants more money

@ianturner

Are you sure you're not thinking of blind spot detection? This is included with the Driver Assist Pkg. Uses radar and the mirror cameras to predict if a car is in your blindspot. Indication is the warning triangle in your side view mirrors.

Lane Departure warning is a different animal and gives an indication in the center of the instrument cluster and vibration through steering wheel (as if the F30 didn't already have enough steering wheel vibrations)

BTW, nice car!

Delaware; looks like a lovely place to live. My dream house in the background. Dream car in the foreground (could only justify a 328i)
