Is this too much for ED

ha ... ha ...

But anyway on a serious note, i think im trying to squeeze too much into my ED trip. Were taking 8 days for the drive, not including travel, but this is my first ED trip (not to Europe, been there 3) and i feel like we wont enjoy it cause well just be flying place to place.

Please see below and give me your thoughts. Basically spending two nights in Munich when arriving, pickin car up on Monday and then were off on our adventure, with a final stop in Amsterdam for a day or two before flying home.

We definitely want to hit the two places ive dreamed of most - Stelvio Pass and the Ring. Be there in late Aug so dont expect any weather probs.

What do you guys think?

You can still get some nice driving in, without making a billion stops lol. Most people go on ED for the experience and obviously vacation, many people don't want to be in the car for hrs and then stop at a place for like a day and on and on. But it depends on the person.

Just realize some of the stretches of driving are just going to be long un-interesting stretches, so I'd suggest looking at the whole experience and not try and fit in as much as you can with your limited time.

When are you planning your pickup? I'm hoping to be there around mid-August. Good luck!

The autobahn gets old after few hours. Trust me the autobahn is fun, but you want to detour and try the twisties in the country side, and you want to visit the local cities away from tourist spots to enjoy local charm. We find gems everywhere along the route.

I think that if you feel like it's too much, you know what you can do and what you enjoy doing and so on better than we. Thus if your better judgment says it's too much, your better judgment is probably right. Especially seeing as you've been to Europe before.

FWIW, your itinerary looks more like something a traveling salesman's than a vacationer's.

All the best and have a lovely trip.

I don't think this is that much driving, if you schedule your day well, you will have plenty of time for sightseeing, etc. Keep in mind that in Germany you can easily do 90MPH on average with some 100MPH stretches occasionally to stay within the break-in constraint, and even outside Germany you should be able to do at least 80 on the freeway, probably not in the Alps, but the rest should be okay, just try to avoid rush hours around large cities.
