Not DIYing. Have so much to finish off with my home extension. I will take it to Active Motorweke in Burwood.

They have extensive experience with installing & setting up the JB4. I will let them do it. Besides, I don't want to change the downpipe myself.

Hope it's not to long a wait for the JB4.

Shame I can't pre book the job.

If Active MW have a dyno they want to put the car on, sure. Otherwise I will just butt dyno the car. It works for Stage 1 and no doubt will work for JB4.

More importantly, I'm looking forward to feeling & hearing the difference between the catted & catless dp.

Oh JB4, where are you????? Come to Daddy.
GET HERE ALREADY!!!!
(Sorry, got a little anxious. The dp is lonely)

11th December with Stuart from BMR but he did warn me in advance that he was ordering from BMS, so it could take a week or so.

Nothing today.

For us here in Australia, the xs catless dp is currently the best value for money for 328i. AUD$437.00 + install cost.

Braddontroy checked it out and I followed up.
By the way, thanks Braddontroy. Good call.

Sorry - it was from China - but the company I was dealing with was US. When installing the DP - the exhaust place might have difficulty sleeving it into the factory mid pipe and might need an exhaust flange widener

Ok, so Stuart from BMR informs me the JB4, which was sitting in the Post Office will be forwarded to me tomorrow. Hope to have it Friday, but I'm thinking Monday.

Once It's in my hands, you will be the second to know.
Active Motorwerke will be the first.

By the way, been having some fun with Stage 1. Sport mode & DS mode. So quick off the mark. I can't wait to feel how the upgrade will improve acceleration.

I just had a call from Activemotorweke. The Downpipe is too big for the exhaust it won't fit. How dis you get yours in? Cheers

I'm sending the downpipe back as it is just too large to fit. I will have my local BMW tuning specialist, Active Motorwerke install one which fits easily.

Active spent 2hrs removing the stock unit, tried to fit the new downpipe, called me twice when they tried all manner of ways to fit it, then checked the diameter with a digital calliper.
Around 2.5mm too large. Then refitted the stock unit. 2hrs labour charge for nothing.

The JB4 Map1 setting does make the car a little more powerful than when Stage 1 was installed.

My down pipe was too tight where t slides over the factory cat back - maybe they over compensated?

Perhaps they did. Thankfully there are other manufacturers, which make the downpipe fit properly & snugly without having to fight with it.

How are you enjoying your JB4 dp combo?

As I mentioned in my previous post, at least I can feel an incremental improvement in performance with map 1 compared to the stage 1 unit. I also read one contributor to this forum on the international section claiming 2.5 years on map 2 with just the JB4. Do you know if this is workable? Any experience with it?

I know I could test it out for myself, but just a little unclear as to how to change maps. I've seen the videos, so I suppose I could give it a go. Will settle on an alternate dp shortly. Thanks for your assistance Braddontroy.

Thanks rednose. Yes, very disappointing but thankfully there are alternatives. I will update this thread once I get a chance to swap over the dp, hopefully within the next week or 2.

At least I'm enjoying the incremental boost with the JB4 on map 1.
