Does the N55 have a charcoal intake filter
I have seen this discussed in the E90 forums, and in regards to some M5s. Apparently, some of them have a secondary air filter built into the lid of their intake airbox that is made with charcoal to capture fuel vapors when the car is shut off. Does anybody know of the 328i/335i have this feature?
To reiterate, I am not referring to the regular paper air filter.

Why do you care? Seems like it'd be a better thing to not have the carbon filtration as it would add to pressure drop across the filter inlet. It's just to trap fuel vapors that may back flow when the engine is shut off? How ridiculous is that...

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21590 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12338 Many who remove it claim increased power, smoother revving, and some other benefits. The M5 guys were doing this years ago, and [at least] one of them dyno'd it with/without. He saw +9HP and +5TQ. I couldn't find his actual dyno plot, so not sure where the gains are. I hope this clarifies my interest in the subject.

For anybody who might be curious, the car does not have one. I checked when I first got it home.

And those of us who have had the MPPK installed know that there is not a charcoal filter in the F30 335i N55's intake. Just a filter element is all that's in there. If there was an additional charcoal filter, and you removed it, you might get some grief from the dealership, although I completely replaced mine in my 2007 E92 with an aftermarket intake and didn't get any flack.
