Cold starts sound much better (although the stock system was no slouch in this regard). Upshifts using the paddle shifters sound, in a word, glorious. No drone detected thus far when traveling 60-70 mph on the interstate. I find myself driving with the windows and radio down more than ever before. Exhaust sounds relatively tame in EcoPro mode.
Looking forward to it

Cold start and idle (filmed with an iPhone 5). This was a one-man, low-budget production. I'll post up some revving, etc. later.

Very nice. Sounds great. Maybe it's the angle from the video but how do the pipes look in the cutout?(what i mean is do they fit natural, are they hanging lower or higher than stock?)

Thanks a lot for the vid

who was that at the end that asked what you were doing? lol

Two quick thoughts: 1) I love the look of it; 2) Quite noticeably but not dramatically louder than the stock exhaust. That being said, I guess the best way to put it is that the exhaust note is definitely more distinct. It sounds like it has some character now.

It's been spitting rain here all day so that's why the tips look so grimy.
I got to test drive a 335i with the M sport exhaust, and my feeling on it is the same as yours. It's not dramatically louder, which is why I really liked it.
It adds just the right touch of character without being brash.
And, pretty much no drone, not the kind I've experienced with some systems that sound great on throttle and idle, but really SUCK for daily driving and for longer highway cruising.

Audio files on small speakers don't do justice to how nice this exhaust is in person. It sounds odd on audio files I've heard on the web, but in person it takes on a much nicer character.

I have the sport AT with my 335i and I love the burble between shifts, with the M sport exhaust it is nicely accentuated.

I had a 328i loaner for a couple days with standard AT, and it doesn't have any burble over run on shifts. I thought it would have some but it doesn't.
On one high rpm shift I thought I heard a tinny bit, but that was it.
That's another bonus with the N55, not only does it sound better over all, at idle, on throttle, WFO, but you also get that cool burble on shifts.
N20 is nice, but the N55 is just that much sweeter.

Thanks! And no problem. There will be more sound to come.

The tips look great in the cutout, in my opinion. One of the reasons that the cutout looks a little "emptier" is because these tips are just so much *thinner* than the rolled, beefy stock tips.

Here are some more photos. I hope they help to answer your question. Just know that in person, everything looks natural. My dealer did a great job with the install.

Wow, they look really good in the 3rd picture. And the M logo looks awesome. The fact that it's in eb2 is just icing on the cake. Can't wait for mine. Thanks again!

^ Exactly my thoughts as well. It's definitely a welcome and worthwhile upgrade but by no means is it over the top.

^ Agree 100%.

^ You took the words right out of my mouth. With respect to the "burble" on upshifts, it is another instance where the sound is not dramatically different, but rather noticeably enhanced (i.e., louder and generally more aggressive).
My responses are in bold. Overall, our impressions are virtually identical. Thank you for sharing them sir!

Thanks for taking the time to post pics and videos, it sounds great! Mine will be delivered tomorrow, I'm curious what your dealer charged to install it? I was just quoted $258 by the nearest dealer. ( I didn't buy the car or exhaust from them)

Thanks,
Luke

You are most welcome, Luke. And thanks!

My dealer charged $250 for the installation. The $258 sounds fair. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it!

what???? The BMW website states 1 hour install. You are getting ripped off. Even up here in Canada where we are used to taking it up the poop chute with a sandpaper dildo, it only cost me $129 to install.

They quoted me $250. It could've turned out to be less.

All together, the exhaust plus installation ran about $1280 (including tax). No complaints from me.

I have the PE exhaust on my E92 with the secondary cats cut with the stock downpipes and let me tell you its the best sounding exhaust, my exhaust is crazy loud. is this just a cat back? Does it still have the stock DP? I wonder how it would sound with a 4inch catless downpipe mmm

Not a bad price at all. And it's definitely nice to roll some of that cost into the payment.

Yep. Stock DP. I'll take some pictures of the complete system and post them up.

right, but BMW states it's a 1 hour install, so your Dealer is being dishonest with you. Unless they charge 250/hour.

as long as you're happy...

I think it ended up taking a bit longer than an hour, and I remember being charged for some materials, etc.

I also was able to purchase the exhaust for less than MSRP ($1,250), obviously.

I am actually aggravated about the price they are quoting me to install my black grilles. I'll give you a hint, it's higher than what they quoted me for the exhaust installation.

WOW-- the grilles took me ten minutes to install! Could have been a bit quicker/easier if I had smaller hands.

Hmm.. If it were me, I'd at least called BMW and let them know the Dealer charged more. The reason BMW quotes the prices is to avoid situations like this, where one person is charged more than the other for something straightforward. They don't quote times for suspension, etc as there are too many variables.

There should have been ZERO extra parts needed. That, coupled with the grill quote they gave you definitely warrants the "complaint" call. At least so the next guy doesn't get fleeced.

Anyway, I've beat than dead horse Enjoy the exhaust.. I love mine!!

My guess would be that the quoted cost includes the clamp required for install. the bloody clamp alone is around $120-130. I paid $280 for clamp and install. So install alone without the cost of the clamp was around $145.
