Can a car lead to divorce?

Yet again it's new car year again (2018).

Not for me but my darling wife.

At present she has a Peugeot 208 GTI, which I really like as it's a fun car.

208 bhp in a lightweight manual car.

I was hoping to get her in to a Golf GTI or an Audi A3.

But no, to prove she has no taste (she married me), she has booked a test drive for the new year (when weather is decent.

What has she booked?

A bloody Civic Type R.

It bloody horrible, total Transformers / Manga car.

Unfortunately she has seen one, read reviews in Evo etc.

Bloody women.

I am now living in the dog house for suggesting it was a bad idea..

Historically I am the one getting hassle for my choice of car

Have any other members ended in strife over choice of car?

Yes, we'll divorce you unless you get this ridiculous situation under control.

Really, how dare you.

I had a 2010 Civic Type R a while ago, engine was a hoot. I get exactly what you're saying, whereas the newer turbo cars are fun to drive, looks like it was designed by a teenager.

We test drove a Honda HRV a few weeks back and that looks wacky but kind of cool.
Lots of tech in the car for the price.

I think she is playing away from home Brigand, or at least looking to snare herself a younger chav. Does she have cougar tendencies?

I had an epic falling out with my trout over a C63 Estate that I desperately wanted before I bought the current car. Even now we refer to it as CTCBM - Car That Cannot Be Mentioned. We can laugh about it now - just.

Could be worse, mine bought the classic old persons car - an automatic Honda Jazz!

Everyone has to overtake us as they assume we're in our 60's - just getting in makes you feel old but then I put up with it when going to the supermarket, cinema etc as I don't want dents in my doors.

I knew there had to be someone somewhere who likes the Type R.

But if you can past the looks, it's supposed to be a really good hot hatch.

This might be of interest to you Brigand

Yep I have been made to watch that a few times.

There is an element that it is just plain fucking wrong on so many levels for your wife to have more BHP.

Yeah I believe she may be checking out baseball cap wearing Chavs (or chavettes)

I have bought cars in past that have resulted in a quicker than expected resale

We saw one on Saturday in black and even the missus commented what the hell is that. And she never notices any cars.

Sounds like you need a good divorce lawyer!

Interestingly, my wife didn’t like the Golf either. Must be a female thing!

Surely it's better she's into cars even if it's not something you'd want.

Imagine if she was ordered her 6th Micra in a row or Corsa.

Mrs W and I do not argue about cars. We argue about everything.

Wives eh ? Can't live with 'em. Can't kill 'em. Apparently.

As for the Civic R, it may not be a looker but it's a goer. Same criteria that you use to choose your lovers

No on every level. They look horrendous so do everything you can to talk her out of it. Get her a test drive in a GTi or if she can take a smaller car the upcoming Up GTi is reported to be a hoot and a flash back to the MK 1 Golf GTi.

My missus has just got her new Golf Gti DSG and is loving it. Fun for me to have a run in it now and again too.

I said exactly the same thing to her.

Admittedly using the analogy of a fat ginger bird.

I forgot that happened to describe her sister.
