I tested it driving today and it’s mostly wind noise getting in between the door and car body on the rear top corner of the front doors. Last edited by rjjy; 01-21-2018 at 12:25 PM.. |

As previously stated, Just because it does not exist on your car doesn’t mean it doesn’t fit front AND rear on the OTHER BMW Model for the reasons posted. |

Turns out this is wrong too. They definitely do NOT fit my rear doors. I appreciate you trying to help. Just wanted to record for the next guy doing research that most of it was wrong. Not sure what to tell you. |

I suggest any one learn how to read realoem prior to going down the path of assuming something is missing from your car or trying to fit a piece from a different model on your own car. |

OP HERE.
I drove around like an idiot today with tape and without tape trying to find this noise. It's coming from the topmost, rearmost corner of where the door meets the body frame. Almost like the wind is whipping over an air gap. It's also coming from the seat belt hole in the upholstery in the B pillar. The tape didn't help. I haven no idea what to do next. Replace all the door seals? Just throw Second Skin Luxury Liner everywhere in the door and B pillar and hope it absorbs the sound? EDIT: Should I try this 3M Silent Door Tape? (mute video, horrible music) EDIT2: This guy applies the door seal tape in a different spot. Also calls is #4229 3M tape: And this post has some nice detail about what I suspect is happening on mine too with the B pillar. http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1316217 I'm in deep now! That's why I asked again. I just spent 20 minutes making those 3 photos comparing them exactly to the realoem. I googled how to read realoem and didn't find anything. I'd love to know how I'm wrong. That's what I'm legit asking. I just want the sound to go away and I can't tell if you are trying not to admit fault or actually know that I screwed something up and aren't wiling to help. I can't see where I messed anything up. As shown in the photos I made it's pretty clear, I think, but that's why I'm asking.

For example, the door pull trim in a F30 fits the front and rear so BMW has fewer parts. That does not mean that the front door pull trim from a F30 fits the front door pull trim from a F32. You are attempting to take a piece from a different model (where the front and rear are the same) and install that on your different model car where it is grayed out as it’s not applicable and expecting it to fit. You claim it won’t fit because it’s the rear part and that realoem screwed up because it’s the same part number in the other model it was made for. It’s not fitting as it was never meant to fit your car and you are assuming it will. Peace out. |

I am not. Same exact model. See extensive photo documentation. I even provided last 7 of my VIN so you can verify.

This is my last response to you as you are going on ignore. Lots of luck trying to figure out why M3 Parts dont fit on a 328i....or a front door seal where there was never meant to be one on your 328i. Last edited by IK6SPEED; 01-21-2018 at 03:49 PM.. |

328i schematic shows part #22. BUT THE PART NUMBER IS NOT IN THE TABLE. So I smartly looked around for other schematics with the exact same part, and linked it on the M3. Which shows the same part, but labeled #2 now, and the part number is #51487301069. So I ordered that and installed it perfectly in my 328i. Again you are exactly WRONG. Just to recap 1) the part numbers are exactly the same 2) my realoem screenshot shows it on my 328i 3) and wait for it, the ringer!.....THE REAL LIFE PHOTO OF IT INSTALLED ON MY FRONT DOOR Get lost. You're confusing future people reading this thread. |

I almost hate to revise this thread, but OP I could use some help. I ordered the front door seal parts that you've clearly installed successfully, and I cannot figure out how to get them in. I can snake them into the hinge area behind the actual hinges and electronics, but the space is SO tight I cannot push the seals in.
Do you have a guide on how to actually do it? |

My 2013 428 had the foam seals between the wing and chassis in front of the door as in the diagram. My 2015 428 car doesn't have these foam inserts.
They don't make any difference in terms of noise. It doesn't seal the door, it just fills the gap between the wing and chassis. The door has it's own seal. The wind noise comes the door mirrors and the F3x has a thinner windscreen. I think the window glass is also thinner. A lot of the noise also comes from the runflats depending on the road surface. |

The #1 way I've found to keep the cabin quiet is to put duct tape over the mouths of sceaming passengers. Works like a dream.

If you're still on the factory runflats switching those out is going to make the biggest difference in road noise.

I agree tires make a HUGE difference.
Just switched from my winter tires (nokian hakkapeliitta) to summer tires (Michelin pilot) and there is a lot more noise in the cabin, especially on the highway Even though I removed the roof rack, the summer tires generate more noise than the roof rack. |

Just had my windshield swapped for an non-OEM, and the glass shop put in a an "acoustic windshield". That really reduces the wind noise from the front of the car (still wind noise from the side glass though). Makes me want to swap the side windows for their acoustic equivalents….
