i honestly don't really care where they are built, its the machines thats building them anyways, and the reason they are moving out of Germany is to save on manufacturing cost and shipping so they can stay competitive with there prices

LOL.
If I want to hear a straight 6, I walk to the other side of the garage. Fact is, I got my car for a steal-one I could not duplicate with any other F30. If a 335 was offered to me at the same price, I would not have turned it down to spend as much or more to get the 4 cylinder. Let's be real. But for me, I bought the 328 BECAUSE of the increase in size and addition of a highly fuel efficient and tq'y/easily moddable 4 cylinder like I am used to in Saabs and Audis. I modify pretty much every car I have or ever will have. It's what I do, it's in my nature.

We German owners look down on South African owners. They don't like it, but it was their choice, shouldn't be blaming us. I'd rather run around shouting "I drive a 4 banger!" than "My $50,000 6 cylinder is made in a third world country!" Auf wiedersehen, BJ |

My Roadster was made in some shithole 3rd world country, I forget which one.
Oh, and it's not a real M-car because it does not have a real M-engine with ITBs. So it might as well not be a real BMW to boot.

Trying to understand why 328i owners have to show restraint and sensitivity over the South Africa issue and 335i owners don't have to show restraint and sensitivity over the 4 cylinder issue. I thought all you performance enthusiasts were badass tough-guys. Why so dainty? BJ |

I tested a 328i and ordered a 335i without ever actually driving one. My daily driver is a beast with north of 500 RWHP, so ANYTHING I climb into is going to feel slow. I simply went straight to the 335i because there's a lot than can be done to the N55 to take it to the next level. I imagine that, in time, there will be a multitude of tuners offering solutions for the N20 that will bump it up to stock N55 numbers. That's one of the beautiful things about forced induction. I simply opted to start at a higher point to potentially end up at an even higher point if I follow the same path I have in the past with all of my cars. And I'm a sucker for displacement. Torque is addictive. Too much is never enough. |
