Talking F31 Registered yesterday (Phew) Pickup 7th!

Hi guys,

New to the forum, I've just ordered a 320d F31 Sport Step Auto in Alpina White white with Sunprotection, 18" 397s . Car is a company car and I will be doing 20k annually. Never had an auto before. I've herd good things about the BMW autos. Only had a quick test drive and it seemed nice but was over before I knew it. Haven't got a delivery date yet but probably after April!

This will be my first brand new car but I have had a 528I Msport E39 and a 330CI E46. Both great cars!

Welcome and congrats!

I also had an E46 330ci, it got me hooked on BMW's for life!

Congrats - won't be long until you have been persuaded to upgrade to 340i...

Thanks, yeah I had the E46 first and it was epic and after switching to a MK1 Leon Cupra R I went back to a E39 which was so smooth it was unreal!

Dream of a 340I unfortuantly not on the car list.......

Welcome.

Amazing how many people are still ordering diesel even after much negative press around europe and here in London especially.

Just saying that diesel is not going anywhere.

I'm based in Portsmouth,Uk company car scheme does allow us to have petrol engines but only one on our list was the 318I 136ps....... prefer the 190 from the 320D all day. Diesel cars are now over 50% of all new purchases but after London is going to ban them is it going to make a difference?

Welcome, and congratulations. I've had a 320d manual and a 520d auto, both very different but both very good cars. The BMW auto box is a good match to the 2 litre diesel engine, and never felt underpowered even in the 5-series, so I'd imagine it's a good choice for the 3 series too, especially if you're doing 20K miles.

Thanks gents, I was going to go for F30 but recently got a dog and do a lot of watersports so F31 was obvious choice! Can't wait, the next few months are gonna kill me!

Being a company car I cant mod it, but does anyone have any small, cheap, quick mods I can do? I plan to purchase the car after the lease runs out so subtle exterior/interior mods will be fine.

can't really mod the car performance wise or suspension as company car but black grille sounds good! ill look into that, do people tend to buy a black and swap them over or plastidip the original? yeah mine was a 04 225 and it was mental didn't have it mapped but I still think looks great and they have aged well!

I had a Astra gsi with a vxr lump dropped in and that could change lanes also with torque steer alone

I agree, however would recommend that you just don't go to "that there big London".

As you have ordered Alpine white the black grill goes well. I have the MSport, but you could wrap the chrome around the windows for the shadow line look? I know in the U.K. You can't tint the fronts.... but you can do the rears.

that looks bloody smart. It should have black frame for the windows and I have ordered Sun protection on the rear windows. I have a feeling the contrast between front and back will look a little silly but not sure I can get away with doing the fronts as company car and all that. Will def do the grill though! I do love the black on white look!
