F32 lug nut conversion and wheel spacers recommendation.
Hello All,
Hope you are all well. I am planning to place wheel spacers 15mm front and 20mm rear. With this, rather than buying new lengthier bolts, thought of converting the bolts to wheel studs and lug nuts. This is for my 2014 F32 420D, I would like to know few things.. 1. What is the stud length best to accommodate 15mm and for 20mm spacers? Is it 75mm or 82mm or 90mm? 2. I have seen many using (Thread Diameter x Thread Pitch) M14x1.25 and many using M12x1.5 lug nuts. Want to know which is the right one for 2014 F32 420D. 3. I was planning to purchase H&R or BONOSS spacers, but is there any other brands that you would recommend. 4. Do you recommend any brand for best quality and fancy looking lug nuts. I was checking MishiMoto, any other brand you recommend. Thank you. Last edited by bimmer-101; 09-20-2022 at 11:33 AM.. |

1. Go to motorsporthardware website and look there. They have information on length of stud and spacer information
2 & 4. The pitch you need is 14x1.25. the issue with this is that I'm pretty sure this is the only generation of cars to use this pitch meaning your choices of lug nuts are limited. What I suggest is for you to find one that will convert from 14x1.25 to another pitch. I believe they also sell it at Motorsport hardware Something like this https://motorsporthardware.com/produ...4x1-25-12x1-5/ |

Thank you kickthecan for your replay.
As you mentioned if I convert the stud from 14x1.25 to 12x1.5 I can get options for nuts of 12x1.5 as this in below link. https://www.mishimoto.co.uk/aluminiu...s-m12-15.html# About the spacers, what would you recommend, the cooling ones like... https://www.bonoss.com/bonoss-forged...acers-adapters or the light weight ones like.. https://www.bonoss.com/bonoss-forged...-wheel-spacers I was planning for the light weight ones, due to the obvious reason of its weight. |

personally, i wouldn't go from 14mm diameter to 12mm just to have more options for nuts. 12mm will be floating in the hole more.
i'd do 14x1.25 to 14x1.5 instead. while there may not be as many nut options, it's the stud is 2mm thicker and stronger. |

The e46 and e90 used m12. As long as the nuts are there you're golden. Even the website shows that running a lower size helps fitment for wheels that may have smaller lug holes. I just don't find your point that big of a deal. If there is evidence that it'll cause an issue, please enlighten me because I was going to go this route. I think the most important thing is making sure the stud is made of high quality metal which is what Motorsport hardware sells and shows Quote:
Well spacers aren't that major of a thing. If you have the money, go for it. I think to find a spacer that has the little slit cut into it Incase it sticks to the rotor so you can stick something in between to pry it off. Last edited by kickthecan; 09-23-2022 at 01:49 AM.. |
