EPA Revises 2012 328i (F30) Fuel Mileage to 33 MPG
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Quote:
The numbers are now: BMW 2012 328i Sedan City 23 / Highway 33 / Combined 26 - Automatic City 23 / Highway 34 / Combined 27 - Manual BMW 2012 335i Sedan City 23 / Highway 33 / Combined 26 - Automatic City 20 / Highway 30 / Combined 23 - Manual With this, I'm just wondering who start to have second thoughts about their choice for the 328i due to the revised fuel economy of the car? Personally I have no idea what to do yet. My car does not arrive until the end of March, but more likely the first week of April. Should I keep the car because it's cheaper or shall I order a new one and spend a few thousand more (although, in my case, I would leave the cold weather package this time lol). Do I want to wait the extra months or should I just forgo on the whole model and see about a 528i or 535i with slightly less options instead (kind of hard as I love to geek with some of that stuff lol). I did email my CA to see what he can tell me about the revised numbers. I have no idea what to do yet, but I can say I am not feeling right about this. I do feel a bit like this was false advertising and we should at least have the possibility to upgrade to the 335i if we wish to.

I was beginning to regret my decision on the 328i as well. I just checked the BMW website and they no longer list fuel economy standards for the 335i. They simply say "TBD". This would lead me to believe that those numbers are being revised as well. In addition, the manual 328i also lists "TBD". The only numbers that are listed on their website are the newly revised 328i. So before I make any decision, I will wait until all the numbers are released.

Ya, I'm regretting. I called my CA last night and explained the deal here. One of the main reasons I went for the 328 over the 335 was the gas mileage. That advantage just evaporated. So now they have another deal out to me to reorder the 335 instead. But they gave me a worse deal on price over invoice -- they said they had fewer production slots for the 335.
So it's decision time for me again... do I order up? And all of this while my 328 on the Tortugas cargo ship is 2 days away from docking in CA |

I don't know why they're redoing their initial findings but it is quite curious that they've been revised. Obviously, they spent some time establishing their figures and now to revisit (whatever).
I purchased a 335i and I don't have any regrets, as long as it comes out more fuel efficient as my outgoing e90 328i, then I'll be happy (which I'm quite sure it will be). |

Haha! I get 12-16 in my M3, so the 328i is refreshing. I have a feeling my wife will beat any EPA standards. I like the 328i because it was ~ $14K less than a similarly equipped 335i. With a Tune, I have a feeling the 328i is going to be even more fun than it already is.
Get which you like most and don't look back. Regret is a wasted emotion. For me, the $14K I didn't spend for the 335i gets me more satisfaction than my wife would have gotten if we went with the 335i. Just my 2 cents. Mason

wow, that is some BS! the 328i has been advertised on television, webpages, etc as getting 36mpg on the highway and 40+ in ECO Pro. i knew with the performance numbers that was too good to be true. i bet the 335i AT will be closer to 20/30.

The lowest you pay for premium (92) here is 4.48/gallon, the maximum is 5.07/gallon.

335i's optioned out are nearing $60K. Nicely optioned 328i's are in the $45K range. We got 7AC and ZSL, ZPP, 494, 655, 6NL

This is one thing I do agree with.. My current X5 gives me 15-16 mpg so that is indeed a big difference from what it was. Maybe I should look at it that way and, indeed, go with my choice... thankfully I can think about it a bit longer
My 328i is actually a bit over $53K, the difference with a similar optioned 335i is only 3-4 thousand from what I've seen.. If lose a few options (since I don't move out of Hawaii, I don't need the cold weather package, for example) and go with the 335i, I would pay about the same

Wow guys - first I am hearing of this. So sorry for you all. If you are going to need to reorder and wait another 3 months - I'd recommend a wait for the '13 model year and order a 335 - maybe you'll even get lucky and they will work out a kink or two with the stop/start and maybe even get a power bump.
