sorry just to "clear up"

When I booked it in, they asked if I wanted anything else done, I replied no.
They then said, we'll do a complimentary fluid check anyway

Which they always do.

TBH,
I have no problem with them having a look around, it would pee me off no end if they gave me my car back and lets say...my AF had sprung a leek or something.

It's just this time I got a whole list of "recommendations"

LOL

I wonder what fluid they were checking in your air filter housing

so,(imo, of course), what really matters here is whether you lease the car or you own it. If you do own the car, it further depends on how long you intend to keep it. If you lease, don't worry about it, it's BMW's problem. Well, actually, it's the problem of whomever buys it on CPO. If you're going to own it, email Mike Miller and he'll tell you what to do. for example: in 1999 I bought a leftover '98 540i-sport/automatic and for the next 17 years ignored BMW's maintenance advice (which was, and is, essentially no maintenance). Pictured below is that car on the day I sold it, with 172,000 miles on it, five months ago. It fetched $4600 and it ran like a bear. I treat the F82 the same way, probably better since I put fewer miles on it, and I expect it to last as long. I think Miller will forgive me for posting a section of copyrighted material below, besides, his prose is way better than mine.

LOL

I made damn sure they refilled my blinker light fluids !

So to quote verbatim

"Perform xxxx BMW visual courtesy inspection additional to:"
-Topping up washer fluid with BMW approved all season fluid
checking/adjusting the tire preassures to BMW spec
-check control messages

in the notes

"went over recommended repairs , waiting on auth....
"No auth for recommended repairs at this time"

I can't remember where I got it,

Lifetime fill means 100,000km.
Or end of life as far as manufacturer is concerned, I think if you calculate it.

Car does on average 20k-25k/year (we'll say 20)

A car 5 years old will have done on average 100,000km
The depreciation, resale, trade in etc, is trash.

I think a lot of lease cars get slung out at 3 or 4 years.
Even standard BMW w'tee is 4 years (or 80 clicks)
unless you have an extended w'tee which YOU are paying for BMW only w'tee the cra NOT to fail during 4 years or 80km, that is the lifetime

round it up to 25k/year, you have your 4 years or 100,000km

That is what is considered lifetime w'tee.

My son’s car was at the dealer on Tuesday for its regular “free-for-life” oil change. When he picked it up, the service writer told him that his engine had a severe oil leak and that it would cost $2,500 to fix the front engine cover and water pump adapter mount.

The car hasn’t leaked a drop in the last three days, and there’s no oil at the spot where he has parked it overnight for the last seven months. Sort of makes me glad we didn’t accept the dealer’s offer of a “necessary” $170 liquid decarbonization treatment either.

Other than that, last time I went into Costco, some ass was really hard selling an Executive Membership.
I don't know if they've changed but BMW also refuses to rotate tires. They got tired of all the ensuing ride complaints from customers who waited too long to rotate coupled with in increased wear on the rears (negative camber)

It was my wife's Audi, which has same size tires all around. We regularly rotate them, including at this dealership prior to this visit and they have been rotated twice since that visit with no issues elsewhere.

Hate and never rotate tires,
must be an NA thing because in the UK, never have, never do, never been told to.
Usually means buying 2 tires at a time rather than 4

and if you have a staggared set-up you CANT. so rotation is IMHO BS

I do not rotate tires on my M4 and would never rotate tires on any car with staggered setup. It definitely prolongs tire life by evening out wear on car with non-staggered setup. Maybe it is just U.S. but pretty common knowledge here.
