HK upgrade speaker covers

I just noticed on BMWs site, when I add the HK audio, the speaker covers are pretty bright silver/aluminum colored covers.

I don't think I like it cause it's just so bright.
Are the covers really that bright in person?

Why not just put an HK logo on them and just leave them black?

They look really smart but definitely not 'silver', maybe more graphite than black but it's still a dark look.

Whatever the colour, they look smart in the cabin and the sound is well worth it!

The tweeters in the rear doors stand out the most. But, they're definitely not bright. I really like how they look on a black interior.

Yes, they are not bright at all and blend very nicely into the interior. I love the HK system.

The speaker grills with the H/K option on the BMWUSA site shows silver speaker grills which throws it off, in real life the grills are black. The speakers behind the grills are silver but doesn't stand out as much as on the website. I think they're silver because they'e "ALumaprene," what ever that means.

They are a dull silver and look very nice. Not awkward looking at all I like mine and it sounds awesome also with my iPod hooked up.

Yeah, on the US website, they show as silver, surrounds and mesh.
They appear very distinct in the photo's.
You can really see behind the grills.

I've seen the picts of the drivers, but not the covers.
The alumaprene in the sedan have neoprene foam and an aluminum dust cover, circular cap right in the middle.

You have an E90 right?
Maybe they changed it for the F30 HK.

I'm very inclined to believe those who have the HK system in their car.
Question is, who is right?

Some say black, others say silver, dull silver.
Hmmm...

The grills/covers, not the drivers behind them.
Black or silver?

Or is the one of those BMW things, were the Euro models get one color and NA market gets another.

Update:
Just saw a real life pic of a US spec 2012 328i sport with HK. They look black.
GOOD.
Unless they changed for 2013. BAD.

Those look great.

Black surround with black-ish mesh.

The US website shows nothing like that.

You can see it looks gray - but it's not shiny. I think the tweeter grills are a little darker than the speaker grillls. Sorry, only photo I have of mine that shows a speaker.

It's great.

Thank you.

Lot's of red in your car.

Depending on camera and settings, colors and brightness can get pushed.
In your picture, the red trim on the dash looks a good bit brighter than it did on person.
I have the coral red seats in my 135i, and your pict shows them to be a good bit brighter red than they are.
I'm sure the same thing happened in the BMW picts. Even though their picts and not so bright, I think they accent certain features, likely for marketing, like the HK speakers and the red accents, etc...

Thanks to everyone for putting my mind at ease.

Now, back to deciding whether I want to stay with Msport or go with sport line. See, this is what happens when you order and have way too much time before the build date.

Well you also have more options than I did now that the M sport and X-drives are available! Just make sure you get everything you want the first time
