It definitely pulls just as hard all the way to the next gear.

I think we are all just getting used to the power. Trust me, if it feels slow just look down and realize you're still doing illegal speeds. JB4, here I come! |

Nothing "happens." I just got to the 1,200 mile mark. They told me at my dealership very vaguely to take it easy until 1,000 or 1,200 miles. From the forums I learned that best practice is no WOT, no going > 4k RPMs, no going > 100mph until 1,200 miles.
So no real way to tell. There is a huge debate over whether break-in is really necessary in a modern car anyway. If you didn't do it I wouldn't worry about it too much. |

Don't worry. 500 miles after you add the JB4 it will again feel slow; it's called horsepower addiction that being said the car is absolutely not slow by any means

The First day out the dealer I gunned it let the engine rev high and kinda went over the speed limit lol, one thing I noticed is the more I did that the more aggressive my car got. Added 3 inch exhaust mid and rear, sounded amazing and drove way better more air flow of course, its an amazing car but horsepower addiction is a sickness. Just ordered jb4 and Evolution RaceWorks 4'5 inch down pipes all from TopGear Solutions. Can't wait to see the results and the difference.

The N55 is very tame, almost feels "sluggish". The N54 was a beast (especially in my stock 335is). I assume (have not tested it yet) that the B58 is very close to the N54 tuned in the 335is. Definitely a big difference. |

You want it more stiff? I think the sport setting is stiff (like a M3 in comfort), what I think I can feel are the narrow tires. I think it could use a 35 profile all around on 245/275 combination. Maybe a stiffer sway bar, but springs and shocks - no way.

The most offensive thing about the suspension is definitely the body roll. I have a couple roundabouts right near my work, and without even pushing the car that hard I can feel it tipping over onto the sidewalls of the outer tires. I don't find squat and dive to be as troublesome as body roll. But overall yes, I do want the suspension to be stiffer. My current plan is ACS x-drive springs, Dinan shockware, Dinan sways. That should give me a modest drop, greatly reduced body roll, and a firmer, more responsive ride overall. That's the hope at least.

BMW won't hate on you either. The 340i B58 engine is a marvel, especially when combined with the 8AT. The acceleration belies the engines power numbers and the cars weight. A 4 door sedan of this weight should not be able to accelerate like this...but it does. |

That is nice. Almost looks like BMW had to go "backward" from N54 to N55 to make the room for the B58. N55 is a great engine (probably more reliable than the N54), however, sounds like the B58 is the right thing for this car.

That's what I'm noticing as well. I had a N54 with Dinan S1, and the stock B58 pulls a lot harder than that combination.

+1. The B58 is a whole different animal relative to the N54/N55, and anyone who thinks the difference is marginal has not actually driven one in anger.
