It could be interesting to find out how much time elapses between BW, arrival at dealer and delivery to customer. It seems to vary quite a bit.

I emailed my dealer today and they came back and said my car is at the paint stage and is now showing delivery to the dealer week commencing 3rd December

which means my delivery date has come forward a week!!!

Mine was due 3rd Dec, was told today due latest by Friday and should be ready by Monday. Even put vin through online checker to make sure it was the right spec. Can't wait to see her, this must be second only to waiting for a child to be born for anticipation (not that I would know!). Glad BMW CS proved useful to others.

That's a 2 week jump forward and a 2 day turnaround at the Dealer's...now that's what I call CUSTOMER SERVICE...good on you my good man!

There's hope for us yet...

I know mate, all a bit of a blur at the moment. Glad yours seem to be getting sorted too. At least we are supporting each other through the dark days of waiting ;-)

A vin is assigned when it goes 5055 - confirmed by production control. Not sure how helpful dealers are at giving it out but I think it is my car so my vin. Sounds like your dealer has been especially crap at looking after you Mark.

I'll ask them tomorrow to give me the VIN when they have it. Yes they've not been great; the guy didn't tell me he was off work for 4 days in the middle of us sorting out all the figures for starters; then he says he'll email on a certain day or by a certain time and doesn't, but then doesn't even give me an update and I have to chase. The wrong spec sums it all up really!

He's not been terrible, just as you'd expect any average worker at a company to be I suppose; though it's not the experience it should be when you're spending so much on the car!

You're paying a lot of money Mark, basic customer service is the least you should expect. If you'd not checked today, they may have given you the wrong spec car and expected you to pay for it! I know we all need to make a living but I'd be sacked if I performed my job like that!

Yes it would have been a right mess for all concerned if it was missing some of the major options! I'm just glad I'm able to get updates directly from BMW CS, makes it a lot easier. All's well that ends well though; they did me the best deal out of 3 dealers, and if the car arrives on time it will be fine. Though a bit more care and attention definitely wouldn't go amiss!

Wow, just realised your are coming from an M3. Will be interesting to see what you think of the 330d after the M3

I'm still keeping the M3, but my previous history was 330d, 330cd, 335d... so I like my BMW diesels. I miss my 335d, even having the M3. Low end torque and fuel economy was brilliant.

I used to have a 335d before the 135i as well, and also missed the torque! I assume you've had a good test drive of the new 330d? If so, how did you find the performance compared to your 335d?

I had a 330d to play in (about 3 weeks after ordering one doh!), it was good... not quite as fast feeling, but not far off. I remember thinking "this is as fast as the 335d". I used to get 34mpg in that and the 330d looks like it's going to be better

M3 needs winding up to get the peak torque, around 3900rpm. In normal driving the 330d/335d would be more suitable.

Cheers, I had the same thoughts as well. It's odd that the 330d doesn't feel as fast as the 335d, as the 0-60 is significantly improved! Perhaps it's just that - a 'feeling'?

I also got around 32-33mpg in the 335d; in the same driving I'm hoping for 37+ in the 330d, should be achievable I think!
