Compañero! Un gustazo saber que hay alguien mas por aqui en la forum. By the way, i have a couple of 225 run flats with less than 1000 km if you get yours damaged in those baches de mierda. I should warn you though, don't get your runflats lower than 32 or 33 psi or you will bite your sidewalls when you get to a pothole and basically destroy your tires on a single hiccup!

Lower your tire's Psi and you protect your suspension and steering, but certainly my tires are not going to last as long.

It all depends on the place you live. Some people are blessed with butter smooth streets and no potholes. Some are not that lucky.
I understand the need to protect your car from bad roads and impacts.
But, for that very reason you need to RAISE your cold tire pressures.
Running pressures too low, as you are doing, is actually increasing the risk of damaging your wheels, tires, and suspension, because you don't have enough tire pressure to maintain sidewall stiffness.
What you're doing is counter to what you want.
Raise the pressures to the minimum required as posted on the door sill, so that the added air volume will help absorb the energy from those bad roads.

The reason to keep low tyre pressure is that in Mumbai, India the road quality is pathetic, sometimes the pot holes are almost the size of a crater. So keeping the tyre pressure lower than specified will help a bit in cushioning the ride quality & also not hampering the suspension as the tyre will absorb the bumps.

Can some one please elaborate on the pros & cons of keeping 32 psi all round / lower than company specified

Note : Running on 225/45 R18 Goodyear Excellence RFT setup
No. Counter intuitive.

i have 245-40-19 and 275-35-19 and had it at 35 front and 38 rear, but after tires warmed up, they typically increased to 38 and 41 and i felt the car was too stiff and would feel every bump. I have since reduced it to 32.5 and 35.5 (increases to abut 35.5 and 38.5) and have found it to be much more comfortable. but I'm not sure if its bad to be 2.5 psi under the recommended pressure

i live in texas though so temps can get pretty high

Hey guys ... Ur advice.

I live in Houston and the roads are shitty. I have a 328i with bmw 361 style wheels.

Front 225/35/20 pzero run flats with nitrogen

Below is a pic of my tires pressures and temperatures after about a 20 min drive.

Should i make any adjustments? Advice please

I suspect it may have to do with the profile, the front tires have a higher profile than the back tires, I think the difference is 10mm usually, with the front having 10mm/2 =5mm more of an air cushion.

Bicycle tires are usually inflated to higher PSI and they have even less profile.

This also may tie into how higher profile on the front can absorb shocks better if you hit a pothole or curb, with a lower profile there might be more risk. The way they do it makes the front tires have 10mm more diameter than the rear which from aesthetics point of view shouldn't be proper. A more agressive stance would be achieved by the opposite.

Inflating the front to a lower pressure than rears makes it better able to handle potholes, and with the higher profile the pressure can be lower without running into isues.

I run 33 and 35 cold on my non-RFT's. They get up to about 35ish in the front and 37ish in the rear when hot.

I suffered a leak on the font passenger side, to compensate till I could fix it I increased the front pressure to 38 on both sides and rears were at 40. To my horror traction control light came on at 50mph.. and lost power beyond that, I have a 2013 xdrive btw.

I've mostly kept tire pressure to 37-38 in all tires, that gives a decent efficiency bump from normal.

Lately, I shifted to 33 in front and 37 in rear, I like this combo better for curvy roads in SF bay, without losing on ride quality (since only front seats are occupied most of the time).

That pressure is low, you might be causing extra wear. I recommend raising it by 2-3 psi on each.

2013 F30 xDrive Tire Pressures

Thanks for everyone's input. I was originally running 32f, 38r on my 225-45-18 Bridgestone DriveGuard Run Flat tires, but felt that there was way too much understeer. I played around with different pressure settings and drove the mountain roads to Lake Arrowhead, CA several times. I found that 36f, 38r works the best for me. There's much less understeer and the car tracks much better in the corners.

Here in the USA the sticker is on the driver's/left side door jamb.

Hi,

I have a 2014 sportline 335i with 225/45 R18 91Y tires

When I read my door sticker, I see that I should put 2.4 Bar all around (see attached picture)

But in this tread everybody is putting more on the rears, so my question is:

I'm reading the sticker correctly??

Realizing this post is very old, but as the thread has now been raised from the dead, M2/M3/M4 have 35 profile 19" tires front and rear (and 30 on 20s), M2 (245/265) calls for 32 all around while M3/M4 (255/275) call for 35 all around.

Clearly weight is the factor as the M3/M4 front 255 falls in between the M2 245/265.

I almost arrived at the same figures on my new 235/40 19 and 275/35/19. Lowered to 32 front (Michelin PSS4), and the car became really moody, and mushy. Very much so. Temps here, 13C - 30C. But my 335i M Perf is also 3960lbs, with Adaptive M tuned for hard 20" Pirellis. At 35F 38R I seem to have OK results. however, have yet to run them a really warm day pass 75F, just got them! But 32 front was quite mushy.
