Down payment/deposit with credit card?

Is there anywhere I can find a list of dealers that take a significant portion of a down payment/deposit of a car in the form of a credit card?

I was not aware of anything that wouldn't. I put my deposit on the credit card with no problems.

Hm, how about a portion of the actual car? Say 20% or even 50%?

Unless you have some type of cards that have 0% interest, or you're planning on paying it off really really quick, I don't think it will a wise idea. Just my 2 cent.

Update:
My dealer said his dealership won't put more than $3000 on a credit card

I used American express for my deposit of 2500. Keep in mind if you're not paying that amount off right away, you're looking at some hefty interest.

Most will accept a smaller deposit paid by credit card, but not a larger amount as a down payment. This is because of the fees associated with accepting a credit card payment, which are a percentage of the amount.

I always try this after I negotiate the best deal, then try to put as much as possible on the amex card for the points.

Last car I was able to do 5k because i wasnt so aggressive on price, but some dealers wont budge on the 2500 or whatever limit. 5k points is only worth 50 or 100 bucks but every little bit helps.

Right, I am trying to find one that will take a large amount.

Exactly, 5,000 points or 10,000 points is not bad. I plan on paying it off in full. The amount of money that point is worth depends on how you use it. Ofcourse just cashing out you usually only get 100:1 ratio.
