They can do your service as soon as the indicator says 2000 miles to go (or less).

Awesome! Congrats! My car is non-VSS (non-DHP) and I received the update as well. Subtle change in steering parameters, but huge improvement in steering feel.

My car is at BMW now. They say they can't find the update I'm referring and I saw them trying on the computer to find it. Does anyone have any more specific information I can provide them?

The key data on mine listed the following under "technical campaign":

special defect code: 10012540300
description: B12 12 13 program control units

After the service visit, the integration level was bumped to F020-12-07-533(although the latest one seems to be F020-13-11-504)

Hope this helps.

My 2013 F30 M-Sport was to the dealer for the "Limp Mode" in February. My invoice states, "Update complete vehicle programming and encoding." I have no idea if this did a steering update, but the steering feels no different to me so I am guessing that it did not.

Did the numbers for the integration level numbers that you posted above come from the reading on your key at the dealer and do they appear on your service invoice? Thanks.

The integration level numbers came from reading the key, I don't recall seeing them on invoice but I will double-check.

I wonder if you can email a SA and have them check for updates through the vin number?

The invoice does not have the integration level printed, it says "performed programming recall 122113 program all control units. programming successful". Obviously it is unclear if BMW specifically improves the steering, or if it is a by-product of re-programming of other(unrelated) control units.

My car (2013 328xi (4/13 build) non VSS non DHP at the dealer (Schomp BMW/Denver) now too for scheduled oil service/ASS reprogram & brake recall. I'll report back on whether steering feels different or not. I didn't mention it to the SA.

I got the same code. I asked my advisor what it meant and he said something about a sensor in the radiator needed to be updated. Why would the software in a basic sensor need to be updated? I can't tell if my steering is different.

Mine said: "PERFORM RECALLS AND CAMPAIGNS: B12 21 13 PROGRAM CONTROL UNITS"

Got 'er back. Steering feels the same to me. Plus, instead of reprogramming ASS to remember last setting, it appears they completely disabled it. I now get the start stop msg with a line through it when the light is off all the time. :-(

That happened during the first few drives after they programmed it.

I believe it is because the vehicle needs to "learn" your driving style again AND/OR the battery was discharged quite a bit from the programming.

Give it a day or two (or a loooooong drive) and it should be up and working again

Did everyone else get their settings erased after the update? I had to reset all my settings.

Several iDrive settings were back to defaults. (Lighting, locking, etc). I also noticed the oil change interval is now at 12,000 mi. Mine is a 4/13 build 2013 328xi. IDrive also had showed it needed front brakes (I have 12,800 on the car), but my SA said there was a problem with the interval software, and it's now at 16,000 mi. Pads have lots of life still.

Was updated to integration level F020-14-03-503 (per E-sys) - steering does feel better, particularly in sport mode.

That did it. Got in the car yesterday and ASS stays where it was set. I also notice it defaults to off when in Sport mode now.

Took the AH3 in for annual oil change ...still no bulletins that apply to my AH3, so a no go on the software reflash. Very frustrating.

After having my car back for a couple of days, I definitely DO feel a difference in the steering, especially in Sport mode. (I don't have Sport+). It's perceptibly heavier, at lower speeds. Also, in Sport mode, the throttle seems just a tad less touchy and the car seems to shift a bit sooner than before. Don't know if that's a result of a reset of the adaptive transmission or not. In comfort mode I don't notice a perceptible difference.

They did oil service, reset the ASS to remember the last setting (which also resulted in a bit smoother start/stop), two recalls and wiper blades. There's no notation of a specific integration level/software update on the invoice however.

To anyone who has had this software update: Is it just the feel of the steering that is improved, or does the turning radius improve as well?
