Installed an Msport steering wheel but BMW says the airbag is wrong...?

I recently had BMW install a Msport steering wheel on my Sportline F30 335i and the airbag it came with was a single phase. They told me in the US the cars use a dual phase airbag, ok so I ordered one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/331552304008...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Now they are saying that this airbag is wrong as well, it still throws a code when plugged in. So which damn airbag do I need????

Ok, thank you. I assumed the BMW dealership would know this but I will tell them. In the link you can see the picture of the airbag I purchased but I have tried searching multiple sets of the numbers on it and cannot find a single thing online...?

Did you get the dealership to do the coding and all has been fine afterwards ?
I have done this wheel change, have the right airbag, after 2 weeks of trouble-free use, the airbag malfunction error came on. Others on the forum have claimed this is plug and play and no coding required.

Any further guidance ?

Airbag faults are usually very sticky and need to be cleared with Tool32 or ISTA-D. If your ACSM module detects that an airbag has been removed or the improper one has been installed, the code will remain on the dash until it's cleared.

In your case, you need to do the following:

1) Get the correct airbag and install it with the battery disconnected
2) Use Tool32 and clear the existing airbag fault

Mine was plug an play with no errors because I had the correct airbag and we took out the battery when we swapped the wheel. The ACSM module was not powered on when we made the swap so by the time we put the new airbag in, it did not detect that the airbag was momentarily disconnected.

BMW's had a few part number changes on the msport airbag. I think if your car is not "programmed" from the factory to accept a certain set of part numbers, it'll throw a code.

I went from a baseline wheel to an msport wheel and bought the airbag myself. I had no errors or programming needed to make the wheel and airbag work. It was all plug and play.

I did that wheel upgrade myself too and it was plug and play so I thought, but after about 10 days it threw an airbag fault and red light came on and stayed on.

I cleared the fault with E-SYS and Changed the VO, removing 240 (baseline wheel) and adding 710 (m-tech wheel) to the VO, then VO coded all the ECUs, including the airbag ECU.

Let's see if this takes care of it.
