New 3 series GT.....???

Was reading an article in Autocar about the spec of the 3 GT. Huge car.......2" higher seats than 3 Saloon, big hatch and extra long wheelbase.

Surely going to steal many 5 series sales?

What's your thoughts? Anyone interested in buying one?

Read in tesco tonight and was thinking looked good at front and side but rear quarter on not so nice priced well and another niche filled, biggest load area than touring it said did not notice the 330d at launch. As for size yes in 5 teratory for sure

Too long.
I don't need all that rear leg room !
Also quite expensive. Obviously more expensive than touring , which in turn is more expensive than the saloon !

Got the mag. It's the rump I cannot abide with. Somehow it looks a bit of an abortion to these jaded eyes. The F30 is big enough for me, so no, not in my consideration. It will go down a bomb in the US of A, possibly.

Don't like it but it's better looking than the 5GT. It reminds me of what they did to the Mini. Whack in some botox and you have Mini Countryman.

3 Touring all the way for me.

Yes weird that they haven't launched a 330D yet. Would have thought that would be the engine of choice.

I think the plastic gills look really awful. Gills need to be functional, or not there.

Those gills behind the front wheel arches look completely out of place - like a cheap attempt to make the car stand out

What surprised me was the size of the 3GT, compared to the 5-series touring, it is nearly as large. And I see the 5-series as a big car.

3-series 3GT: ... 4824 length, 1828 width, (2047 mirrors) 2920 wheelbase, 1465 front interior width.
5-series touring: 4907 length, 1860 width, (2094 mirrors) 2968 wheelbase, 1518 front interior width.

The 3GT was the car I was very tempted to wait for, I quite like the way it has turned out, but not disappointed I proceeded with a 5-series touring. Plus a decent 3GT spec' is going to be eye watering.

On second looks I was starting to think it didn't look so silly but then saw this thread which has more pics and comparisons.
http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=803843

I think it's the pics of it side by side where it looks so much taller that reminded me that I disliked it. But I disliked the 5GT too. Obviously it's all personal taste

Thumbs down

Better looks than 5GT.

But as I do not need extra back seat legroom and height slightly weakens hahttp://www.f30post.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbdown.gifndling, my eventual F30 series order will be a F31 touring

The nose looks likes it's off another, much smaller car.

It seems to lack any sense of dimensional proportion.
