Per BMW--production delay 6 weeks due to shortage of 19" M-Sport 403M wheels
this is directly per my CA-- anyone that has a production slot this week or the next few- you may want to check on this. My slot was moved from a week 31 to a week 37 production due to shortage of the 19" msport optional wheels.
this f**ng blows.. I'm chaging to the 18's, and will see if that makes any diff in production. Will let you guys know. |

Did anyone get confirmation of this? I ordered mine with 18s but recently decide that I want bigger wheels. I would not be surprised at all if this is true as my service people are telling me that there are no 403 M wheels in the states at the moment and that if I wanted them they would have to come from Germany if at all. I did not order yet as I was considering the M Performance 20s as another option. If there is a six week back order on the 19s then the decision just got a whole lot easier.

OP you are lucky your are getting feedback.
The Rosslyn plant is here in SA and so far the production completetion date of my Vehicle has changed 5 times already. Both my dealer and BMWSA cant give me a straight answer saying they have no contact at the plant. The latest for me is a week 39 delivery I was promised a week 37 delivery at. On tuesday delivery was at week 42! Oh nd BTW i have the standard 18" wheels ordered. waiting is driving me insane!!

I feel ya-- waiting is always the worst part...for me, I opted NOT to get the 18's in order to put it back into week 31 production--but as of this morning, per my CA--this is still showing week 37 (even after confirming with BMWNA that this will go back to original prod. week if the 19's were removed) so they are checking on this yet again---his last email is "I'm confident they will move this back to what they said they would"....but I'm not really buying that as "week31" comes to an end in less than 2 days...and next week is week 32--followed by the darn 3 week break in production... |

My car has been confirmed by production control since 25th July so hopefully they had a set of wheels put aside for me. We'll see

Yeah, if I get a 6 week delay I might update my order to be a november production instead. But I don't think I have to worry about that, my sales agent is on vacation now so maybe her inbox is full of (delay) messages!

I last checked with my salesman on Tuesday and everything was still all set to go so I'm as hopeful as you are about BMW knowing what they're doing.

FWIW, I followed up with my Parts guy and while there appeared to be plenty of front wheel spares (30+), he told me that the computer showed that the number of 403M rear wheels available as spares was less than 10, to which added an unsolicited "That is not good." He still thought he could get them but that it would take 2 weeks to get them at the earliest (if the they were still actually available - you know how that is), but I decided to go with just go with the 20". Hope it all works out for people.

btw---assholes at BMW screwed up somewhere, even with not picking the 19s anymore, they said week 31 is no longer avail, 32 is full, and next avail is week 35.

Vikz - I think your dealer screwed you... my car is 19 inch and due for production Monday next week - no problems with production as far as I'm told and aware... that story seems to be consistent here too...

I think for cars that were previously ordered---they have wheels allocated aside for them. My order was put in LAST friday 7/27, and it was to modify a week 31 production, which then changed due to the "wheels shortage" this is one of the biggest/highest volume dealers in the Southeast United States, that I have been a customer of for many years, I certainly hope they didnt screw me over.
