Exclamation First Service Intervals

How far have you gone until your F3X's first service? I'm a little concerned.

My F30 328i (which turned one year old last week with its production week date being 20/05/2012) is now on 25,000mls and the iDrive is still indicating 2000mls until the first service. The criteria being an engine oil change. This is much further than my previous BMW's and other cars have gone until their first service, which is around 12k-16k miles.

So I'm interested to hear how far your various 3 Series models are going until they ask to be serviced! I think my E90 LCI 330d went in around the 16k mark but it took 1L of oil after 1200mls whereas my 328i has not required any oil.

Yeah, ive done 2000 miled in mine and when I picked the car up it said 17000 miles to service, now says 18000. My old 116d was always 17000 miles between oil changes.

2 yrs is the latest even if you only cover 1k miles - its a "time or distance" service plan.

Maybe it's the petrol engines? Mines the 320D, and it started at 17K. I've done 2K and says 15K...

I have only had my nearly new 320d a few weeks and it was showing 855 miles on the odometer at collection. The service indicator was showing 19000 miles and still is now and I am currently at 3800 ish miles.

Does this mean my service is due at 19000 miles or is the car estimating I have another 19000 miles to go before it requires a service.

Sorry if this seems a dumb question as this is my first BMW.

Hi, almost the same age as you know but I've got about 12,800 miles on the clock. Here's the details from my Status Check screen...

Engine Oil - in 05/2014 (in 13,000 miles)
Brake fluid - in 05/2015
Vehicle inspection - in 06/2015
Vehicle check - in 05/2016 (in 37,000 miles)
Front brake pads - in 39,000 miles
Rear brake pads - in 70,000 miles

Sounds about right if you're on 25,000m and need an oil change in 2,000m (putting it at around 27,000m) and mine is at say 13,000m needing an oil change in 13,000m which is about 26,000m for me?

I'm guessing that when they fitted my new gearbox a few weeks back, they didn't need to change the engine oil. Don't think there's a dipstick on these F30's is there, otherwise I could take a look at the condition of the oil

(Personally, for me 26k-27k sounds like way too long for a performance petrol engine, but then I'm old school).

It means another 19,000 miles from now AFAIK. It's 'condition based servicing' so the number of miles to the next check will vary depending on how you drive and if you drive gently then the service interval will appear to extend. On the other hand if you drive it like you stole it then the miles to next service will come down faster than the miles you're covering

Ah, well that's good to know cheers for that! I think the diesels get a dipstick but I know us petrol lot don't. That said, couldn't be certain that the diesels get the good ol' fashioned dipstick. Was looking after a 2013 116d EfficientDynamics the other week and that had one - which was lovely.

I want a dipstick. What was wrong with the dipstick? It's an underrated feature.

Certainly sounds that way.

Would be interested to hear how the 330d's are doing but they haven't been out long enough for many people to do over 25,000mls yet! Was just racking my brain harder the other night and my E90 LCI 330d actually went in for first service at 18,000 miles.

BMW service intervals are two years or whatever miles.
So two years and service time.

11,000 in.....8,000 to go. Said 19k when new and seems to be tracking pretty consistently.

I was wondering on the service schedule, untill this thread was brought up.
Never asked my dealer about the 5 year servicing package detail i got.

I have done 3K & it shows 14K on the dash. So i presume it was 17K when i first got it. My one is a petrol by the way.

I also thought it had a dipstick, there was one in the same car i test drove, although it was an auto, not on my one though. Possibly the manuals are different.
