My F30 Completed!! Full bolt on! with Dyno results!, Racechip, Mcchip ECU tune, more!
Hello guys, I have been waiting for this moment since I started tuning the car. It has been a long road but fun nonetheless. She's my daily driver and every time I start the engine it gives me a huge smile
Well here it goes: Took delivery of the car about two years ago: Day 1 specs: See this link of the car at stock: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=972633 F30 328i: (on paper the car makes about 218 hp (detuned Thai version), 345 nm torque) M sport body kit Red M performance brakes M-performance exhaust M-performance carbon interior M-steering wheel Stock car felt pretty strong but I wanted more power and the first thig I got was the Racechip Ultimate piggy back tune, coupled with AFE intake and AFE front air scoop. For the record the AFE tune did not make any more horsepower than stock, it’s purely just for the sound! With dyno as comparison, we tried swapping the stock intake with the AFE intake and---no difference at all. In fact one of the tuner said he would choose the stock as it felt a little smoother lol! But I love the sound so there you go Racechip felt pretty good, it definitely pulled harder especially at low end from 2000-4000 rpm. It ran pretty smoothly no issues at all. no misfire, no stuttering See wheel dyno below for results! (We did three runs each and picked the ones with best hp) Stock blue lines: 220 whp, 310 nm torque Racechip red lines: 245 whp, 363 nm torque I was pretty happy with it but I want more!!!!!!!!! So naturally I went for my local shop for a new custom downpipe with cat delete, see photos below. Note that the mid-section resonator has a slightly smaller internal diameter than the rest of the pipe aimed to keep the torque up a little. Also, the M-performance muffler was modified at the exits to create a quad exhaust from OEM dual exhaust tips. Hub dyno (rear wheels off): Small lines: Racechip with stock car: 265hp, 396 nm Thick lines: Racechip with full downpipe with decat treatment: 278hp, 401 nm Removing the catalytic converter definitely made it much louder particularly at cold start for about a minute. See the links for exhaust clip : I WANT MORE!! again... (I’m pretty sure most of the forum members here would also feel the same!) At this point I really felt that racechip had reached its limits and to take it further I took the plunge and went for the full ECU tune. The only ECU tuner in Thailand: Mcchip-DKR ( http://mcchip-dkr.com/ ). These guys are based in Germany so I hoped BMW should be their thing To enhance the tune further and allow higher boost values -- I also went for the ER intercooler, (brushed aluminium finish) coupled with ER charge pipe (also brushed aluminium). Special thanks to Andrew at Mcchip who organised the whole thing! The ECU tune, charge pipe and intercooler were all done on the same day! Well, the racechip came off and see below for the dyno results! Hub dyno (same place as before) Dyno as per graph: 281hp, 457 nm torque (I think this basically reached the torque limiter) See the article by GSR tuning Note we did several runs some of which were about 288 hp with 460 torque but the dyno guys emailed me the lowest dyno run of the day sigh… Anyways despite this the car felt amazing! The torque is definitely up!!! Butt dyno say YES!! A little disappointed with the hp but i wouldnt have less torque for more hp.. So here the list of performance upgrades as it is today: AFE intake Full custom downpipe with cat removal ER charge pipe ER intercooler Mcchip ECU tune F80 M3 spark plugs BC racing coilover, BR type, my dampening settings are currently Front 14 clicks (from softest) Rear 12 (from softest) Michelin pilot super sport tyres Pending upgrades: Go fast bits diverter valve (already got it while back): because my car is right hand drive the install is super difficult, I also don’t have time right now, maybe next year lol! Possibly new xenon lights, Osram CBI I’m exceptionally happy with the car right now and I find myself thinking… maybe a new turbo! Lol But I’m definitely done for a long long time.. for now What do you guys think?! Please feel free to ask anything or if you want me to give a review on any of the mods. Also, a lot of the mod decisions were made based on reading through this forum! So thank you so much guys, I would be lost without Bimmerpost !!!!!! it’s my bedtime bible! Oh, before anyone comment on the rear M badge. Please go easy on me , I think it looks cool (and maybe based on my mods I think a small badge wouldn’t hurt lol), I’m honestly not trying to be an M3. Enjoy guys !! |

I really love your car, i would just completely de badge the rear of it. I think it looks to busy on that right side with the M on there now and how large it is.

Awesome !! Thanks for sharing.
Money well spent and i really enjoyed the fact that you took dyno graph for every performance mod to show the gains

Great stuff! Good to see someone has done all bolt-ons and commented on growth path and outcomes. This should be a sticky. I think the factory conrods are the inhibitor for further power now? I'm heading to Thailand end of the year - would love to see this.

Wow great read! Thank you! I am going to skip all that piggyback stuff and go straight to the flash tune. As much as I would like to get a DP, living in California and this being my DD, I need some civility still.
Really interesting how you made your stock muffler a dual exit. Do you still have the exhaust flap actuator connected? Finally, any thoughts on getting some spacers to complete the stance?

Interestingly, Guys at mcchip told me that the air flow during dyno is super important and all dynos in thailand lack good air flow!! Apparently the fans they use for the job just downright tiny! So my real hp may be a little higher?? Regardless, i think an accurate dyno is hard to find but as long as u use the same dyno as you upgrade your car it should be a good objective guide! Yes I don't want to go any higher than this! If anything, maybe a want the torque a little lower, I'm scared haha Let me know when u come, if I'm free im happy to meet up |

Are custom to your mods.. So it works better I think Absolutely,Yes they are still connected and still works as intended. Spacers haven't really crossed my mind hummm, I know It will make the wheels more flushed to the fenders, any advice on what to get ? |

There are so many options for spacers. I personally use ones from Burger Motorsport. I think for an F30 with stock wheels and mild drop people use 10mm front/15mm rear?? I am not sure since I have a F36. However, no doubt spacers give the car a more aggressive look to match that monster performance you have under the hood!

Excellent mods, that was a good read
I couldn't help but notice but it seems like you need two new rear tyres?

Congrats. On the racechip did you change the stock setting from c to max power? I believe you can up the settings until a check engine lights appears and the back one.

Ride harshness reduced a fair bit, the bumps dont feel as jerky. Also these have amazing traction compared to the OEM bridgestone. On launch control PSS tires did not slip AT ALL! No traction lights! whereas before it would lose traction for about 3-4 meters |

Especially for those non-believer that Racechip is Real and ECU Flash is the Stage3 now =D
