Memo from BMW Canada issued 2016/01/30:

Regular vehicular processing times have been impacted and elongated due to severe congestion at the Autoport Terminal in Halifax. The facility is overpopulated by 4000 assorted brand vehicles, most of which being flagged as “rush”.
Please be advised that as per the “Release and Rush” bulletin, all units that are tagged appropriately are flagged as rush. As previously outlined, this release information is viewable on REX. The units that are flagged as rush will be prioritized, however delays are to be expected in their processing.
This issue has been escalated with CN and they are keenly aware of the impactful strain this has on our operations and customer satisfaction. We have been notified that they are working extra hours (i.e. nights and weekends) to ensure more vehicles are processed and the backlog is cleared.
As supplementary relief, BMW Group Canada has also taken steps to assist CN in decongesting their lot by sending trucks. With our combined efforts, we anticipate increased yard-exits immediately.

Confirmed yesterday with my dealer... although the date on the memo is from february...

Apparently there was a higher than normal volume, so the shipping company held everything back a week to get themselves in shape...

My car has been there since the 21st!

That's ridiculous, similar thing happened last year which resulted in a recall of 3000+ cars... Pretty sad they didn't resolve it

There's a guy out there in the middle of this parking lot mess. He carries a single key fob and he listens for the audible chirp of the alarm or the *thunk* of the locking mechanism as he tries to match fobs to vehicles.

He has to do this 3000 individual times. It might be a while, fellas...

I received update from dealer telling me car is in Halifax March 28th and its been 3 weeks and still there it seems...

I wanted to jump on the dealer stock instead but deal fell through. hopefully it will arrive any time now

Mine has been in Halifax since March 3rd... & now it is on rail since last week enroute to Vancouver.

It'll be worth the wait guys, I waited 5 months for my 428i GC last year (which was recalled due to the Halifax Ice Storms) and another 5 months for my 340i this year but it was well worth the wait for both cars

Good lord, 5 month?! This thread has certainly made me feel better because it has been 3 month since order and it won't be here until the end of this month.

Yeah... Ordering a manual and RWD in Canada is rough, not many allocations

Mine is an auto RWD. EBII as well! We have a whopping 6% of total cars with RWD configuration in 2009 in Canada haha. I don't think drivetrain configuration has anything to do with allocation. It has to do with a dealer's past performance in sales. My dealer had somehow managed to transport the car to Toronto in a little over a week, I am taking delivery next week!

RWD allocations are limited and set by BMW Canada/Germany (and yes, based on the sales performance). If they're used up for dealer orders and one of those cannot be amended for any reason, you'll have to wait for the following month or so to get the next available slot.
