Wheels And Coilovers Setup Questions

aloha guys im new here and just got a f30 a few months ago, i came from a 240sx and a mini cooper s project, well sold all of them and got me a f30!!yay! anyways i wanted to ask if im in the right direction im looking at 20 inch wheels and kw or bc coilovers, now for the wheel im looking at this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-VELGEN-VM...TaXVCw&vxp=mtr

(ill take any other wheel ecommendation too im also looking at other rohana wheels)

9x20 et35 fronts with 245/35/20 and 10.5x20 et45 with 275/35/20
and im looking to lower it enought to delete the wheel gap, i dont wanna go stupid low but nicely low (i was even thinking in a 285/35/20 for the rear since i ike that meaty look,

so to acomplish the drop im looking at the bc, the cks, the h&r and the kw's
no i had megan track coils on my 240 and they were stupidly stiff, i had bc racing on my mini and they were ok but still kinda stiff so i was wondering if i could get any comments on that too?
well thanks in advance guys!

posted my old babys just in case

Your specs look to be about perfect for what you want to accomplish. They're actually almost identical to what I plan to do with 19s. My only suggestion would be to drop the rear tire profile down to a 30 as that 35 will be too high. You will need some negative camber front and rear depending on how low you go, as well as having to roll the rear fenders. It will take a little work but it's definitely doable.

I look forward to seeing your results.

100% to what was said above. For coilovers there are a few threads on reviews of each. I was debating the BC racing vs KW coilovers myself. Read up for a little while before picking one over the other and found that a good amount of f30's with BC's have a clunking/thumping noise coming from them. I went with KW V2's and love them! Great drop and not to stiff with current setup. Gl with the build! Great wheels choice BTW

S13 looked really good

If you are worried about a stiff ride then I would consider KW Street Comfort. Sounds like you would love them.

I got a ride in my friend's car with BC's racing. Too stiff for me, but alright for him. He says people mainly get BC's just to slam the car, not for comfort.

joe, im inclining towards the kws since they seem to have the better ride and since im not looking to slam i should do just fine with them, right now im on dinan springs and i love them but not low enough
thank you sir yea i miss my s13 but had to move on, i think the wheel color and style will match my red car (first red car ever) im alos looking at some rohanas
but they are 9 et35 front and 10 et38 rear not sure how well will this ones sit but i like the look on them too

Offsets are a little bit more aggressive, pretty sure they'll fit fine with the right amount of camber and tire size

ok guys so im stuck between this two wheels now (the velgens are a maybe at this point) now this are 10 inch rears with ok offsets (mostly on the vorsteiner set) i love the looks of both but im inclining towards vors for quality and weight?they are also flow forged, but the rohanas are great looking and they are rotary forged! any input? i also wanna run a 285/35 on rear for ride quality im thinking to stick with 35 all around since im going coilover setup and ill be able to lower the rear more if need it (dont wanna compromise ride quality with 30s)

flow forged and rotary forged are the same. cast spokes with spun forged barrels. lighter than straight cast. not as strong as monoblock forged.

the stock tire diameters for f3x's are 26". not sure why you're concerned about ride if you're going with 20's, but 285/35/20 is 27.9" diameter. you are lowering your car but raising it back up due to the tire diameter. the gearing at the wheels is also changed (for the worse) and the increased tire weight and will likely affect your acceleration and braking although i'm not sure how noticeable. speedo and odometer are also affected. however, if you're not concerned with any of this go for it...

i were doing this type of setup, i'd go 20x9 with 255/30 (26" dia.) front and 20x10 with 275/30 (26.5" dia.) rear.

although both choices are nice, i'd prolly go PUR FL04, somebody just got these in another thread.

mmm interesting! i appreciate your input a lot, the roads in big island arent that bad so im sure i dont have to worry about running 30 tires, also great looking wheels dude!im going to look around online and see if i can find a set, or they custom order? also 255/30 front isnt a bit too much? just wondering cuz everybody seem to be running 245 up front and 275 rear

on 9" wide wheel, a 255 with tire fits optimally, ie without stretch or bulge. based on, 20x9, +35, 255/30, if you slam your car where the edge of the fender is lower than the shoulder of the tire i believe it would rub unless you add negative camber /---\. if you're not slamming it then it should not rub.

if you run 245 front, i'd maybe use 245/35/20 (26.75" diameter) up front since the the 275/30/20 rear diameter is 26.5". you could use 8.5" wide or have slight stretch on the 9" wide. idk.

Sorry the FL04 flow formed PUR is NOT avail in 20". only the monoblock forged or straight cast has 20"

So between vorsteiners or RF2, i like RF2 since i have not seen anybody with them on these forums yet...

right on yea i seen some guys running 255s up front so i think im going to follow that to protect the lip just a tad more, also im not thinking on slamming my car too much im looking at another inch or so from my current drop on this drop springs, if i can shove my pinky in between the fender and tire ill be happy!
and yea the fl04 are sexy but im defenityl sticking with 20s, i seen the lx04 which are sort of similar but i wonder how much are they?
ill put your vote in for the rf2! my nephew has the first vote for the rf2s so it might be a possibility!! i sort of like them for my Melbourne red f30 too

the LX04 are 3-piece forged wheels. i would guess that is costs at least as much as the monoblock forged 4OUR (same look as FL04), which costs $1700 each, i believe. at this level it is "call for price".
