I just wish they would combine into a single app that worked well.
That me remote app sucks. Never works fore unless I want to know where I parked my car. Even then takes forever to connect

I wonder what kind of battery life that big honker is getting... Would be annoying if it dies in a day or two without charging.

right cuz everyone wants EVERYTHING STORED on their phone these days. Then when your phone get stolen, you panic cuz all sensitive data is on it and your car might get stolen.

sometimes TOO MUCH TECH all in one isn't a good idea.

It does exactly that according to the original post..

+1. If I can use ApplePay on my smartphone to replace my creditcards, surely BMW can come up with an app to replace the key fob. Plus, the smartphone has a bigger screen etc. Who has room in their pockets for that key fob (looks like a phaser from ST TOS)?
forget Apple.. how about BMW? of course this was also posted today !

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1075965

They make a credit card that functions as a key so you can RENT a bmw..... Yet when you buy a BMW you get a key the size of a smartphone.

Perhaps even easier than getting a lost key programmed out by the dealer service dept

I wonder how much windshield washer fluid I have left.....I know I'll check the huge key. At least I'd never lose it or send it through the washer. Lol

Get onboard already BMW!!
BMW has an app that does most of that already. Mostly a gimmick though. I've rarely needed to use it unless I'm sitting somewhere asking myself "I locked my car right?".

I don't mind having a phone do all of these things but I don't want it to replace the key fob as some seem to be suggesting. If my phone dies or breaks then I'm screwed lol.

Or you'll get this, "I upgraded to iOS12 and now whenever I try to unlock my car, all of my contacts and emails are deleted."

Did you guys even read the press release that accompanied the photos? The product info in the release states the battery life for the fob is three months on a single charge. The fob can be charged "inductively" inside the car using an optional integrated inductive charging cradle.

But this thing is going to be DOA. It's just too frickin' huge! No one is going to want to carry it. An iPhone app would be better -- and not one that requires sending commands through the existing BMW Assist satellite / server farms like today's app does -- it takes AGES to execute the simplest of commands.

Thus defeating the purpose of CA, when you have to take your key out of your pocket so your car can charge it.

And three months? With a large display? I want some of whatever they're on.

As I said before, great, it's a halo innovation. I hope they don't trickle it down to the rest of the line. I'd prefer my keys to be getting smaller, not bigger. Hell, with the "kick under" feature (LOVE IT, whatever it's called) I don't really even need the trunk release on the fob. I'd rather have a smaller key in my pocket.
