Apparently, neither do most BMW Service Advisors or technicians...

Have you tried the 2/3 heavy braking stints from 70 to 10mph technique?
It works every time for mine - sure it's not ideal that it happens but very easy to rectify. It doesn't seem logical to keep (over) tightening the bolts that way as clearly something else is going on. Either way, very annoying.

Don't forget wheel bolt torque figures are based on threads being clean & dry with no grease or oil or copper slip etc!
What ever the pundits might say otherwise. Be warned! A friend of mine lost a front wheel on a Jaguar, whilst on the move, due to greased-up threads! |

Mine also squealed today for the first time and I've been nowhere near my wheels or my nuts.... However, roads around here were salted for the first time last week so my guess is that, in my case anyway, it could be the colder weather or the road salt.

Have you managed to solve this conundrum. Mine went into the dealers on Thursday they drove it said they couldn't hear anything got it back this morning drove 5 meters and it started squeaking. No technicians were available to do a test drive. Booked back in for next Friday but they said a loan car is £18 a day insurance and over Christmas I'm not looking to accept that as it could easily end up being 5days plus because of the holidays.

Coopers courtesy cars are either £16 per day, or free if you agree to a £1000 excess. Worth asking your dealer if they can do that. |

It's what I do, it fixes it every time - for a while. This crappy weather is a nightmare for this.

I noticed mine started squeaking about a month or so ago, this is with my 403m I don't have a spare set of wheels for winter.

It's cold, icy and wet here so that may contribute to it but was the same over Christmas and they didn't squeal then? Dickie |
