Delivery roll call / Self Help Group

I've had a few cars over the years. But none have me as excited as the soon to land 340i. Every day I check my Google Calendar and just stare at Friday 21st October entry ... "Car". Sends shivers down my spine.

I hassled Genius on a frequent basis, even creating a spreadsheet showing trending graphs for estimated delivery based on aggregating data from others posts.

I checked shipping websites to check when the car might leave for arrival in the UK. I even checked news websites in case of any ship accidents, when the Genius update said the car was still at sea when I expected it to be in port.

I've checked VIN build info against my order, going through each item and making sure its as I think it should be.

I've even had my driveway jetwashed, and re-sanded just so the new arrival has a nice clean driveway to sit on.

And I still have 8 days to go. Heaven knows what I'll do in the next 8 days.

Who else has an imminent delivery ? Have you done something, that the rest of the world would think crazy, for your new purchase?

My leased 335d is arriving early December

The broker has given me an approximate date which must be fairly accurate from the supplying dealer, however I was initially cheesed I couldnt have the order number to track it myself through the Genuis

After reading your post Im now pleased that ignorance is bliss because in your shoes I think Id be a lot, lot worse!

Cheers, and enjoy the wait.......

You must be mistaken.... a more powerful car than the mighty 335D!! I don't think so!

and congratulations on both buying cracking cars

440i GC is sitting on the distant (and I mean distant) horizon.

ahhhhh, I thought you were upgrading/downgrading (delete as you see fit depending which side of the fence you sit on ) from the 335D to a 340i

at least you'll see better fuel economy figures

So have you also sorted your M Performance parts as well?

Then of course your choice of new alloys to host your winter tyres.

Detailed sorted ?

GAP arranged?

Congrats and yes waiting is a bitch.

Mine's arriving tomorrow - picking up at the dealer in the afternoon.

I have gone through the same OCD/stalking behaviours with Genius and the shipping lines, and bored the pants off anyone who would listen (or was too slow to move away). I've haunted this site in a completely unwholesome way, along with Detailing World and frankly any internet site that showed pictures of F31's, particularly EBII ones. I've bought replacement grilles and exhaust tips before I even had a confirmed build date, and frankly more detailing products than any sane person could ever use in a lifetime.

Winter tyre/wheel combinations have left me in an agony of indecision, as has the quite bewildering array of aftermarket delights available.

I've had trouble dropping off to sleep this week, excitedly imagining that magical moment when we meet, followed by warm fuzzy fantasies about long, romantic drives together along winding West coast roads.

So, in summary, quite normal behaviour, I think......

Mine is apparently gonna be 2nd week Nov. Aarrrrgghhhh...etc...

I can't bear this, especially seeing everyone's lovely pics as they've collected their shiny new motor.

I need medication of some sort to get me through this.

Could we employ a forum counsellor perhaps?

My eagle has landed at the dealers. (640d GC)

Dealer is doing a few bits to it for me before I take delivery.

Have been scouring everywhere to try and work out which remap to do as apparently there is no PPK for it.

Also been looking into what I will code and buying silly things like mats and boot tidy's.

You still might I have moved up a whole week from my scheduled delivery - I think it all boils down to how many cars of your vin series BMW produce on the day. When I was tracking mine some days they would produce 5 cars on my vin but on some days up to 15. This pushed my production up by a week as they pushed out 45 cars on the last three on my vin series in the last three days.

I need to wait to 5055 before I can get my VIN from the dealer I think. How do you know how many are built around the same time as your car though?

Mine's been at the dealer for two weeks and it's another 2 weeks before I get it. I've been to see it twice. Expect I'll go again before the two weeks are up. Torture!

ha ha it's nice to know that there's a few of us this obsessive !!

Hafnia Seaways just left Cuxhaven but upon checking with Genius I'm still showing 9605 EU port of exit - not sure how quickly their system would be updated so guess I will be told that I should be checking again later
