Planing to lower xdrive, but need tire size advice.

Hi

I have a 2013 xdrive sportline, that came with 225/45r18 square setup of pirelli runflats that are thankfully at the end of their miserable life.Horrible tires for Scarborough Ontario...

Anyways,

My winter tire setup is 225/50r17 Xi3s. I dont like the fender gap with this or my stock setup. So..

I am thinking about going oversize.. 245/45r18 for my summer tire setup (probably pirelli pzero all season plus).

however I do plan on lowering the girl in an year or two..so will 235/45r18 be a better choice?

I am thinking oversize for some extra cushion on bad toronto roads..and Ii drive to michigan and chicago often which have worse roads.

Since you are going to lower, from experience i would advise to stick with OEM size configs. Before loweing I went bigger on my 19s to fill the gap, Then I decided to lower with Dinan springs. While it does look good, i do get some rubbing.

Putting non OEM size tires may cause DSC issues.
Some people here had issues with that.
Maybe you should consult the dealer before buying new tires.

Bigger tire will not fill gap unless you change series then instruments will be off. Suspension is the only way to fill gap.

As long as circumference doesnt change you will have no problems.

For xdrive it's very important that the overall diameter of the fronts and rears do not differ more than 1-2%
