Talking Melbourne Red 335i Sportline

Hey guys,

As my username suggests, I am coming to the F30 community from the Z4M community. I just recently moved to FL and need a practical car that actually has trunk space. So far I am loving the car! Its suspension and brakes are a tad soft compared to the M but its still been a great car so far and just as fun to drive.

Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics and the slightly dirty car. Just drove from NJ to FL so its had quite a few run ins with bugs.

I got formula one pinnacle tint 15% on the rear windows and 30% on the fronts. Just had it installed today and it was definitely a good call.

Nice car! Maybe get a BMW front plate now that you don't have need for the front plate holder...

Congrats on the new car!

How long have you had it? Seems to be one of the early production cars since it has the front plate mount.

I've actually only had the car for three days now. It was the only car that the vehicle locator at the dealer could find that had most of the options/colors that I was interested in. Leased the car at Orange County BMW in NY and they had to bring it down from the dealership in Sudburry MA. I take it I'm stuck with that mount unless the whole bumper is replaced?

Really nice looking car. Waiting for my Melbourne red to arrive. It is a pity that you americans get the reflectors on the front bumper, orange and red doesn't mix well. Easy fix though.

Sounds like you had a nice road trip home.

I tried to find the thread regarding the removal of the front plate mount, but didn't have much luck. From my understanding, there are 6 - 8 screws holding the mount in. If you wanted to ditch the mount, you'd need to remove the bumper, unscrew the mount, then have the holes sealed and re-painted.

Of course... you could always replace the whole thing with an M-Sport front bumper!

That M bumper is pretty sweet haha. If I end up removing it, I will probably go the patching route. The mount doesn't really bother me though since it is matched to the rest of the paint. The reflectors will have to go though.

Melboune is the best of the bright reds BMW has ever made IMO. It also looks better on the F30 than on the e9X M3's Very similar to the metallic red on the Mazda RX-8 actually. I think it was called velocity red.

I really do like the Melbourne Red a lot. My last car was Imola Red which was also a great color. BMW has done a nice job with the brighter colors lately.

You sure have a great looking F30 !!!

Hopefully, you won't be tempted to ruin it by adding those horrid black alloy wheels. Your factory Style 397 Sportline wheels look fabulous with Melbourne red.
