The new F10 trunk sub is off-tool!

Finally, we have our first F30 subwoofer enclosure off of the tool! (Apologies about mistitling the thread! Can't edit the subject line...)

This enclosure accepts a single 10", and we were able to fit much deeper 10" woofers than we were with our E90 and E82 enclosures.

In the first pic, the enclosure is sitting in the trim panel we purchased, which is not in the car. This is not a good pic to evaluate the fit, but is a great closeup to evaluate the color-match Tom did to the stock trunk liner (which, like other BMW trunk liners, is not available off the roll in the US).

This enclosure will be available loaded, unloaded, and as part of an Add-A-Sub package for Premium Sound harman/kardon systems. We are ready to take orders - the first production will start shipping on January 14th! Please email us off of our website contact form for details.

Nice work. Please excuse my noobness here but can you explain "as part of an Add-A-Sub package for Premium Sound harman/kardon systems"

Does the factory amp on the HK system have an output for an extra sub or are you just saying 'if you want to add an extra sub (w/ another amp)'

Well, first off, I mis-titled the thread! Bah. F30, of course, not F10.

Neither, exactly. No factory system ever has an output for an extra sub. However, the 2013 F30 with H/K has a few oddities that will make it harder for most install shops to add a sub than in the previous platforms.

Our kits for the E90/92/82 include the plug-and-play integration harness and components that fit under stock panels, and all wiring harnesses pre-wired. You would be adding another amp - and when this first enclosure goes into the F30 which it's already assigned to, we will send you pics of what we're talking about specifically. Our Add-A-Sub packages let you add a sub and an amp without cutting a single wire in the car and without modifying the car in any way.

Cool, can't wait to see pics of the install! I swore I wouldn't add a sub to my f30 but a single 10 never hurt anything .... assuming this is fiberglass, an unloaded enclosure shouldnt weight that much.

This is great news! I have a 10" JL Audio sub just waiting to install. I didn't want to sacrifice the trunk space!

That's for the passenger side? That's where the battery is, any reason this would be better than utilizing the drivers side instead?

The passenger side has a cargo net that would need to be removed, and wouldn't yield as much volume for the enclosure. By replacing the battery door, we were able to gain more volume for the enclosure without having to encroach on usable cargo space.

But the enclosure is easily removable for servicing the battery. Retaining serviceability is a consideration in all of our products.

This looks great. But, just wondering, if the HK already has 2 x 10" under the seats, how would this trunk mounted 10" improve the sound?
I think it might make a diff in the Premium setup, where you have 2 x 8" under seats, but not so sure about HK.

The under seat subs are very shallow due to space requirements. They are very different than the structure of a proper 10" sub and create low frequencies accordingly.

Hi,

I know this is an old thread but... has anyone bought this? Any feedback? Is the functionality of the under seat subs maintained or are they silenced?

Thanks
