Oh yeah, your Client Advisor definitely should have that. I got my vin and production number like 4-5 days after my order was officially placed.

You should have got your production number when you left the dealership. VIN comes later when it's actually in production.

No VIN, still in the order production cue with no date. They said it would be 60 days (and possibly sooner) from when I ordered it, so we'll see... it needs to get started in the next week or so if that's true.

60 days!?!? The whole process from order to taking delivery will be less than 60 days for me. Granted down in Texas you have to wait a little longer for the ship to get farther, but 60 days seems insane.

10 days when it gets in production, 2 weeks on a ship, a week+ to get to the dealer from when it gets to port. Wildcard is how long it takes for production to start, how long it waits in port in Germany, and how long it takes to get from US port to the dealer

EDIT: Speak of the devil, in the past hour it just updated online that production started!

Might have to rent a boat and follow that darn thing all the way home... I saw someone posted their ship zig zagging in the ocean, lol.

Ha, yeah I think one of my past ships did something like that also. I assumed it was maybe because they were ahead of schedule and their dock was still filled up (pure conjecture though)...I'm still set for an April 30th date, but now in stead of "in production" its saying "your car is in the body shop"!

Judging by the schedule I should (hopefully) be making the Mignon (departing 5/2 and arriving in NJ 5/17, which will be a real stretch) or Tombarra (departing 5/8 and arriving 5/22). The next ship after that is the Undine departing 5/14 and arriving 5/30.

Mine is scheduled for May 12 completion (2 weeks is longer than recent car builds, so might finish a day or two earlier), so looks like I'm probably going to miss that one. Do all the BMW imports go through NJ? If not it'd be nice if I could make it on the Tomar on the 15th going direct to Galveston... closest port to me by far. Doubtful though.

There are a few different ports depending on final destination. Texas (at least Houston and Dallas) deliveries normally go through Brunswick, GA (SSIPOA).

If you have a vehicle inquiry report from your CA, it shows the port of entry.

Then I'm guessing I'll be on the Courage or Turandot if I finish on May 12th... Or possibly the Tonsberg, but 4 days after completion seems like a bit of a stretch http://sagaweb.2wglobal.com/AppSched...pe=generatePDF

If it's going through Brunswick, there's a good chance it will be on a K-Line ship. Mine was, and several others I've seen here as well.

I ordered on April 17 and got the production number on the same day. Car went into product on April 18 and finished production on April 26. It has been "Waiting to release to carrier" for the past 4 days. Anyone have any idea how long it typically takes for the car to be at the port of exit? There is a W&W ship headed out to Port Hueneme on May 5 and I would love for my car to be on it. For anyone who is interested, here are the specs...

328i Sport Line
Mineral Gray
Black Dakota Leather w red highlights
Manual Transmission
HK sound system

It varies wildly. That is the worst part of following the build. Some get on a ship the day the car arrives at port others have waited as long as 2-3 weeks. As a priority 1 vehicle (ordered for an individual not a dealer lot order), you get priority. There are other factors such as which port you need and current backlog of cars in Bremerhaven.
Typically about a week at the port is normal. You can always check with your CA as they will know the moment your car is on or assigned a ship while the 800 number and website lag behind.

Good luck

Thanks! Looks like my car is at the port now waiting for the shipping vessel. I might get onto Tulane which leaves Bremerhaven on May 5th and arrives into Port Hueneme on May 30th. Fingers crossed!

Good luck
+1...my first e90 was only at Bremmerhaven about 4 days before getting on a ship, my last e90 was there well over a week and my friend who is taking delivery tomorrow had his sit there for 3 weeks. Good info on what to ask our CA (i.e. if it was dealer lot order vs. priority).

Where you buy it from? Also did they tell you it was coming from South Africa or Germany?
