The 4m or 5m one you add to the the factory one so you can tune from drivers seat instead of going to the truck/hatch.
When you join them, wrap tape around the join and it won’t be able to come unplugged.

wildcat10 I installed the amp and configured/tuned based on your file. I like it very much. Also, I have ordered URC.3 as well. I wondering about the install location of the remote. I've figured out the wiring from trunk into driver side area. I'm not sure if best install location. Would you mind sharing your experiences and recommendations.
My car is 2014 F30 328i Sedan. Thanks |

Per the pictures in my post linked above by dangerus_car , the two locations I have seen successfully used are (1) right under the dashboard and (2) inside the center console. Some things to think about:
I love the URC.3. It really helps me enjoy both the amp and the earthquakes even more. |

dangerus_car Thanks for the link
@wildcar10 I most likely will change the volume frequently and hence it should be in easy to access location. I can live with extra led light. As you have suggested, I will try the right under the ignition switch with tape first. I also thought about location along the side of iDrive control center divide (passenger or driver side). I will keep you posted how this went. I'm yet to receive my order from UK (eta july end). Thanks for your suggestions and tips. |

another location i can think of is the compartment which is located underneath the light settings (which is where the adaptive cruise control is if your car has that option).
see pic with blue box if your car doesn't have acc option, then this compartment is empty, and you can mount it there. |

Another spot is the trim piece under the radio, which pops right off. If I was doing it I'd drill holes in that and mount the controls to it.

Interesting thread, especially since I recently installed, and have been still tweaking the UP7BMW's bigger brother, the UP10DSP in my F80. In any event, I originally was going to use the Earthquakes, but went another route, but I did order some harness plugs off Aliexpress since I didn't want to cut the harness and Aliexpress was the only place I could find them (took forever to get them, too). I still have them and will let them go cheap if anyone is interested. Search "BMW 1719093-3 B" and you will find a few vendors selling the plugs. I opted for the assembled pigtails you see in the pic below, with pins in the center two spots since that is how the factory HK and HiFi underseat woofers are wired.
I also have the URC.3 to control the bass and my radar detector volume (which I integrated with the amp). I also installed it in the center console, but in a slightly different orientation since my car has the OEM wireless charger. Also, the way I did it only put holes/trimmed the tray insert you see in the pic below, which still allows access to the stock aux in and USB ports. That way if I want to go back to stock, the tray insert is easy and cheap to replace. Finally, I did look at installing the URC.3 in the ashtray area, but decided to wave off for the center console. The space back there is pretty tight but is probably still doable. I have my original ashtray trim piece that I cut up for another project, but since abandoned it. I replaced my ashtray with another one, so if anyone wants to try to fab something up in that area, I will let my partially cut up ashtray go for cheap as well .

My initial plan is to have two phones at the same time but what I have settled is for one phone mounting only. Left two diagonal is for my iphone in portrait orientation (for face id unlocking). bottom two is used for landscape orientation. I needed to use two magnet at a time for stability.
I have iphone with cover and metal plates inside. I had to space my metal plates such way that my wireless charging still works. This configuration is usable for me. |

Has anyone noticed after fitting the Match 7, when you fault code read the car, you get non serious codes for each speaker grounding to earth? The system works as it should so I assume its because the amp now deals with the speaker feeds?

Most modern amps don't use a chassis ground for the speakers. If one of the output wires inadvertently connects to the chassis ground the amp could be damaged. Your iDrive is detecting something that's different from what it expects with the OEM amp, but as you said if it works there's nothing to be concerned about.

I never detected such a fault when I installed my UP10 DSP. But I did get an amp communication fault, which makes sense since the stock amp is now gone. But it is a shadow fault code that otherwise does not affect anything in the car, including the existing sound system.

No, no such codes here. Car doesn’t even know the amp is there.

Thanks for the replies guys. It is odd. The Amp has been installed since April time and it all works as it should and continues to do so. I wonder if I unplug the piggy back loom from the headunit at the amp end and re scan (using carly) to see if the non serious errors come up again.
These are the codes that have come up. B7F823 B7F827 B7F82B B7F82F B7F8E5 Info 101750 |

Ive just used the piggy back harness from HU to Amp. Ive then used a designated Amp power kit witha fused live and earth cable. Those go into the designated connections on the amp. Ive then taken the 12v feeds and earths that were in the piggy back loom and seperated them so the amp only gets its power from the bigger cables, not the small ones intergrated with the piggy back harness.
As mentioned, all works great. Those earth errors have only shown up on a carly scan last week, they wernt there on previous scans after the amp was installed 🤷*♂️. Weird eh! |
