True.... And wouldn't it be better for you to just post how to initiate this special launch control feature in MT and end the speculation?

Hmmmm....

If you look at the ordering guide for 2013 F30 Sedan from BMW of North America, LLC, and search for "Manual Transmission" in the PDF, you can see that it:
  • appears in the 328i sedan ( option ZMT )
  • does NOT appear the 328 xdrive
  • appears in the 335i sedan ( option ZMT )
  • appears in the 335 xDrive ( option ZMT )

lol ok,

Here goes:
  1. come to a complete stop
  2. put car in Sport+
  3. press clutch and put car into 1st
  4. floor gas and revs will hold at 3500
  5. pop clutch and go

my friend who told me about it did it on a 320d in europe in Sport mode. I tried in sport mode and it didnt work so I am not sure if the sport mode thing is just for those in europe or for those who dont have sport+

Whoops, looks like totally screwed the pooch concerning the MT/xDrive/328 thing.

How bizarre you get it on every other other combination.

Maybe that not launch control, just BMW not wanting you to dump the clutch at anything over 3500rpms to keep everything intact.

This is a tactic used on some of the AWD cars like the STI from what I remember. Certain years(maybe the EVO too), people got amazing launches, but with 6k dumps, then the OEMs made it so you could not dump the clutch so high which slowed the launch a bit.

Yeah.

I am wondering if it will be done later down the product line. Especially if they see a lot of requests and orders taken on 335 X 6mt's.

if this was the case then it would hold the rev at 3500 no matter what mode you are in. As i stated above it does not work in sport mode only in sport+

Interesting.

I wonder if this applies to my N20 6mt.

328i's and 335i's have different manual transmissions. The 328i uses a GS6-17BG-TAU0 and the 335i uses a GS6-45BZ-THY8. The 328i also has a final gear ration of 3.91 and the 335i has a 3.23. Further the 328i has two overdrive gears, while the 335i has one.

I have to admit I thought the 328 was for those who just wanted a BMW label on their cars but I drove a Sport 328 yesterday and really liked it and can't criticize.

But to me the 335 is still a must-have first upgrade, way before any line, package or option, not just because of the built-in upgrades mentioned in this thread but for the total experience...the lift-off from a rolling start, sound and feel.

Think of the 335 as just another option...weight it in priority to your HK tunes, your headlights, moonroof, and heated steering wheels...and the price difference is zilch. It's just a great upgrade!

Yea, noticeable improvement over the N52 imo. Both in performance and efficiency.

Yes. I have an M-Sport, so I get Sport+ just as the Sport Line would.
