im sure one of the reasons they elevated to 4 series is to adjust the price which is bad for us another thing im hoping for is a bigger diffuser on the back fender as opposed to the f30 msport with a very small one. something like 1m would be good

I don't think there will be a 440i, simply because you have to reach the 6 Series or above to get the -40i/d designation, as the 5 Series sticks to 535i/d (though the rule doesn't apply to the X5 35i/40d). It would make sense to keep the 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 Series with -35i/d in order to make the high-end 6 and 7 Series stand out as more upscale marketing-wise (even if it's only different designations for the same engines). A 440i is not impossible but it would imply renaming the 535i 540i, again not impossible with the upcoming F10 LCI but BMW seems to be wanting to stick to 535i/d so far, which also means 435i/d. Although the 435i will definitely get the new petrol inline 6, it doesn't mean that the designation will change from -35i to -40i.

An M Performance version dubbed M440i would make sense though, in order to appear as clearly more upmarket than the 435i and also to be perceived as upscale enough in the marketing battle against the Audi S5 competitor.

The 4 Series is AMAZING! Here is how it could look like without the camo.

Oh and that little side vent could actually be functional, the front air curtain brings in cool air for brake cooling and the side vents acts as an exhaust for the hot air from the brakes. I will have a look to confirm when I see one in person.

Looking at the black L shape trim placed on or over the vent, I'm beginning to think it may be a cap placed over the vent as protective device during transit. What'a you think?

Allow me to answer my own question. Upon further review, the black vent trim is not temporary.... I'm having a problem with it.

Sorry, but that front clip is ugly no matter what you do to it. That "someone took a sledgehammer" look is ugly as it is, and on top of that you have the chrome bits on the headlights touching the kidney. It's otherwise a nice, muscular but reserved shape. If they can only fix that ugly transition (I know it's for pedestrian safety requirement), and make it more like the 5er, it would be worlds better.

Because look at what they did with the 6er. It has a 20k premium over the 5 series. For what? Two less doors and a car that looks better. Thats just crazy. And if this is called the 4 series it will be a similar story with this car too.

It says "sport" directly above it so everyone will know.

Are you sure its not just there so people can tell its 4 series because its nearly the same size as 3 series?

Well the 4 series cost more, I want people to know I paid more for it!

So maybe that's why that plastic is on the fender? So people can tell its a 4?

Since when did comparing various types of cars determine the discusser(s) to be "kids" or "trolls"? Do I also have to own a recent 3 series to comment on the upcoming 4 series now? The last time I checked, this was one large community site that doesn't require you to remain in a particular forum based on the car you drive. If you don't like comparisons, don't read them.
