19" rims Xdrive

Looking to get a set of 19" rims for my 2015 335i xdrive. I currently have the stock 18" that came with the car. Noob question, but a question nonetheless. Can I just put square setup of 19"a with new tires and be fine? Or does the rotational circumference have to be the same, that is was stock? Not good on changing rim sizes on awd cars. Any input is good input

I mean if you have square they should be the same? If you mean width of the wheel itself that is also ok, as long as that rolling diameter is within 1%

For example, 235/265, 245/275 and 255 square are all within 1% of rolling diameter, just add the right aspect ratio for your rim size.

For 19's typically people will do 235/40/19 and 265/35/19 but I just do 255 for simple sake and budget

I think everything is right, someone correct me if I'm missing something

Thanks for adding that link. I've done some reading already through the forums but don't fully understand.

So if I go up to a 19, I'll have to get slightly thinner tires to keep the rolling diameter within 1% of the oem rolling diameter? Sorry about the noob as questions, I just didn't find anything specific to my question, or didn't find an answer that I understood

No worries!

Yeah sometimes this shit gets confusing. Check out this website to compare sizes,

https://tiresize.com/comparison/

This will allow you to plug in two different sizes (check below) I just did stock m sport sizes for 18's. You can do the 19's but try to stay under 26.5 for diameter (since you have a 3 series I think the wheel well is ever so slightly smaller than my f32), I can fit 255/35/20 with just barely rubbing on full lock with spacers now on 624's so you've got a decent range

sometimes it helps to see what your local tire shop has in stock, idk if you'd consider Michelin ps4s' but they're in limited supply Rn, so just check and see so you have an idea before you commit

2015 BMW 335i xDrive sedan could be ordered with BMW OEM 19" 401 Style wheels.

You can always get wheels and tires which match OEM specifications and not worry about rolling diameter issues.

Front 19" 19x8J ET36 225/40R19
Rear 19" 19x8.5J ET47 255/35R19

if square, 19x8.5" or 9", ET32*ish(*+or- 3mm), with either 235/40/19" square or 255/35/19" square.

if staggered, 19x8.5 ET32*ish front with 235/40/19, 19x9.5 ET42*ish rear with 265/35/19

The 1% difference maximum is only in reference to front/rear rolling diameter difference. If you use a square setup, you can go larger than OEM rolling diameter with no issues other than your speedo reading a little slower than it did with your OEM set up.

I'm going to be switching to 235/40/19 square on my new wheels vs. the OEM 225/40/19.
