I am re-posing here because nobody responded in the Electronics section after 2 weeks I need to know ASAP because I want to install the Dash Cam this weekend Help is appreciated, THANK YOU! Pic attached to clarify what I am referring to... http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/att...1&d=1523474300 Last edited by BMW11; 04-21-2018 at 07:36 PM.. |

If you are going for power why not get it from the rear view mirror?

Yes, your plan will work fine. I just did this last weekend while hard wiring my Valentine 1 radar detector. Ran the cable from the left side of the rear view mirror, along the headliner and windshield, across the top of the A pillar trim and then down the side of the A pillar trim along where the door weatherstripping is.

The reason I am having someone do it professionally is because I really don't think I can handle doing a 2-channel dash cam with a Cell-Link NEO battery thing backup with fuses etc. plus a radar detector as well as a laser 'parking sensors" unit all by myself. This install is over my head lol. I have no experience with such a complex (for me) install lol I just want to at least get the front cam going and hide cable to the power outlet under the glove box and same with the radar detector front, or just let the RD cable hang down from windshield to power socket near cup holders. Yeah, no problem with that--I routed my rear through it, however, due to interference with the central locking system I had to mount my rear cam above my rear view mirror...long story..but, the wire was not a problem in the pillar.
