Negotiating price w/rebates/incentives/etc

I've never tried negotiating a price when rebates are in effect...I usually just go from Invoice and up and call it a day.

When rebates/discounts like the holiday rebate is in effect as well as loyalty rebate...how should you negotiate? Should you try for something like invoice + 500 then have the rebates/discounts added after that? Or????

So basically if I build something up in bmwconfig what should I expect to be paying as a "good" price as it relates to a given invoice price with the current set of rebates/discounts/incentives in effect?

And of course I'm contemplating another lease so I understand that adds some wiggle room into the equation for the dealer...should I just negotiate based on monthly payment with 0 down?

Many thanks in advance.

Anybody have clarification on what all the current rebates/incentives are (so I know I won't get cheated)?

$1000 Holiday credit
$750 loyalty
$300 off first payment

Also, my local sales guy (in Texas) keeps mentioning something about a special tax savings offer from BMW financial (with lease turn in)?!?

$1,000 holiday cash if you go through BMW
$750 loyalty only if you have a BMW
$300 first payment only if you are with BMW Financial Services presently.

There is also a $1,500 USAA credit. This credit is reduced to $1,000 if you use the holiday credit.

How would one mere mortal go about getting that USAA credit? I thought USAA is for Military and veterans only.

You have to be a USAA member, eligible for their auto/property insurance. As best I recall, you'll need to be a military service member, or spouse/child of one.

I was told the loyalty credit is only if you are currently a BMW owner and leased or financed with BMW. I did not finance with BMW do i qualify for the loyalty credit?

It's also for families of military. My dad and my wifes dad were both in the military.

Credits get applied ONLY AFTER taxes and fees are added.
You should leave that out when negotiating a new deal. Focus exclusively on the purchase price. Ideally it's Invoice + $500. If you know the SA, he/she may offer you a deal where it's UNDER the invoice price. Let me know your location, I may be able to refer you to my SA if you're in my area....

What dealer fees did you have on your deal? Did they have a doc fee, MACO, etc.?

You do have to use BMW FS for your financing of your new car, to qualify for this credit.

You have to be a current or recent owner of a BMW vehicle, it doesn't matter where/how you had it financed.

I did tell him that i had a BMW but financed with someone else. He said I did not qualify for the loyalty credit. I told him that the website did not really specify that. I called BMWNA and they said that the dealer finance is the only one that can provide that information.

The BMW website does not state such a restriction. I'd let him know that, and tell him you'll be headed to a different dealer if he can't accommodate.

I got the credit as a BMW owner. I'd never previously had a BMWFS contract of any sort.

Blatantly untrue. All you need is proof you own or owned a BMW in the last 12 months.

The only thing you need to have for BMW $750 loyalty is to have owned a BMW in the past year, and be able to show registration. Nothing to do with financing, that only applies to the ultimate drive app.

There WAS a credit for previous BMWFS clients, but I don't konw if it's still available. Perhaps he has his programs mixed up...
