The joker is forgetting the fact that the cars you listed are also widely hated by fans of their respective companies.

Looks like a window to me! Seriously... this 4er GC will be a fastback hatch... just like the A5/A7 design... so you need another window to compliment that fastback silhouette. I believe the rear will be a hatch design. Don't forget this GC is based on the LWB Chinese 3er... so a rear hatch makes sense.

This is def on my list of cars to replace my 535i when my lease is up.
Can someone comment on the size of the 4GC - it seems just as long as a 5Series?? How about pricing?

Bummer....BMW is (was) the greatest car company in existence. They are getting sucked in (ie: more profits) to produce every possible model that every possible human may desire. Guess that's why I was fixated on a 1M which will never leave the stable.
And yes I have $100 there will be a 4,000lb M4 gran coupe. Maybe even another ridiculous Limerock edition!!!???

So this bastard of a design does not appeal to the "coupe" clientele There is nothing elegant or sporting about this Practical sure, but if I want practical I'd buy the 3 series station wagon This shape is basically a compromise on all fronts It's not as good looking as a coupe Not as comfortable in the rear as a sedan Not as practical as the station wagon In English this is what we call a half ass attempt at creating a new "niche" A word dear to many a BMW engineer nowadays I'm still holding out for a 3 series with sliding rear doors You may call me crazy, but its just a matter of time...

Being competitive is great, just don't let it dilute the integrity of the brand as a drivers car. By back to your roots I meant light and agile, that might be dead in the luxury sedan segment but is a personal preference. This overlaps the f30 market, its another similarly sized sedan with presumably the same n55 and specs; so really why does it exist?

The 6 Grand Coupe has a 6 series front and rear end, which is much different than the 5 series. It also has a completely different interior, including much different seats, "floating" iDrive screen, standard black panel display, different dash with leather covering, etc. The 4 GC, if we believe this, has the same interior as the 4 series, the same front and rear fascia as the 4 series. Only problem with this is that the 4 series has pretty much the same interior as the 3 series, and very, very similar front and rear fascias. So if it offers no measurable difference from the F30 sedan, with the exception of a swoopier roofline, there's not a big difference. |

I don't like the front fascia. No M variant. Fail. Looks like the only M3/4 should be called BMW and the rest of the line up - "luxury appliances". I hope M3\4 will drive like proper BMW.

Go BMW!
Seriously, most of you need to get a grip. they did not create a segment. this does not dilute the brand. it is not a 3 series. how thick do you have to be to not understand that a four door coupe has a market share in today's automotive market? it seats 4, lower cg, sleeker roofline, and wider stance. this is a four door coupe. it seats five, higher cg, taller roofline, narrower stance. this is a four door sedan. |

so... BMW is telling us, to make it more clear, even numbers 2,4,6 are Coupe and Odd numbers 1,3,5,7 are Sedans.
So following their naming convention shouldn't this be a 3 series iL? or is BMW trolling us with the 4 and 6 Grand Coupe |

Nice, but it's going to cost $65 grand, which puts it in 535 territory.
Nothing I've read suggests that the F3X chassis handles dramatically better than the F10 chassis, and the F10 is really a much nicer car inside than the F30. This GC variant won't really be much smaller than a 5 series. More similar than different, sizewise. I used to think the 4er GC was Going to be a highly appealing choice – now I'm not so sure I understand how it fits in with the rest of the BMW lineup.

As for the third side window, Scott26 a while back heavily insisted that the camo was deliberately delusional and that the car will not have a third side window i.e. the door will open at the hoffmeister kink like on any other BMW 4 door sedan/coupé. But yes these spyshots seem quite explicit about the door opening and a third side window... May Scott let us know the truth! As in the 6 lineup, the 4 GC should be cheaper than the 4 Cabrio, which in turn is cheaper than the 5er. Last edited by advantage20; 09-04-2013 at 05:27 AM.. |
