Proper shifting for rolling start

What are your recommendations for proper shifting methods when taking off from a rolling start with an automatic transmission in manual mode? Say from 20/40/60 mph, downshift immediately before start and leave foot on gas? I feel like there are many ways to go about it but which gives optimum performance?

Why wouldn't you just keep it in DS and DTC and floor it? Car makers love scoring well in magazine track tests and you're probably never going to beat the built in programming.

I'd presume that too. But after looking at the dynos it seems keeping the car in the 6k-7k range isn't optimal, which the auto likes to do if left to it's own devices.

I always shift around 5500-5700 rpm when flooring it

My 1/4 mile times have shown letting the sport mode shift produces faster times. When I would shift manually, i would do it around 6,000rpms (roughly), and I would get around 13.5-13.6 times. With the trans doing it own thing, I was hitting 13.2-13.3's.

And for a rolling start? Same scenario seems to be the consensus, after 3 honks just floor it?

Pretty sure he meant at a drag strip. Not sure if he's done rolling races.

Using the calculator site is pretty cool and said that we should be shifting at redline or right at it on stock cars. I put in 400tq and it started to come down but was still 6600 rpm'ish for the most part. 1-2 was redline and after that it was down a bit but still well over 6k rpm.
