Dealer fees question
Posted this on the mid Atlantic board but since it doesn't get a lot of looks:
Hi all, About to pull the trigger on a 2016 340i order, and I'm unclear on what fees from the dealer are mandatory or common practice and what are just padding the dealer profit? I live in Richmond Va - here's what the dealer has quoted so far: Dealer Business Tax $102 Processing Fee $479 Non taxable fees $61 Thoughts?

Sound strange, does the state have a website you can use to get estimate on fees? I know in California they do
You can always switch negotiation tactics to price out the door. |

I think your fees is bit higher than avg..but its true in VA. I take it you have not brought a new car in your state before?

I haven't bought in VA before - just moved here a few years ago, and this is really the first time where the fees from any dealer in any state have kind of raised a red flag for me.
The main thing I'm trying to do is get an apples to apples comparison of my local dealer's best price with the quote i'm hoping to get this week from David Aviles. The local dealer could make it easier with a trade-in, etc, but I'm expecting his price to be too high, and then these fees, if they're excessive, may put local dealer out of the running entirely. |

Seems like this is a little too much (from the dealer quote), especially for PCD where the dealer won't even touch the car: "Dealer Business Tax" $102.20 "Processing Fee" $479 "Non-Tax Fees" $60.75 "Sales Tax" 4.1% (No issue with this one) |
