New F33 is on order!

Just finalized the order of my F33 328xi Vert...totally excited! Hoping that the leather dashboard doesn't slow down things too much.

Here's the config details:

Nice! Saw one today here in SoCal with the top down...fantastic looking!! Are the 403 wheels your only option for 19"s or could you have gotten the 442 as well?

403 is the only 19" option for the 428 in the US unfortunately

Thanks! I skipped the Lighting Package and the Parking Assistant. Have both on my F30, and don't see the value personally.

Nice car. What were you told about the leather dashboard as to availability? Did you get at least an estimated production date with and/or without it?

( You do realize that with that configuration a 435ixDrive Vert is only a few thousand more since there is a break on the M-Sport price for the 435i and certain of your other options become standard like leather seats and the alarm system. Did you toy with getting the 435ixDrive? Of course you will be saving a little on gas.)

The leather dashboard was approved by BMW NA yesterday (it's actually moved from a P1 option to an individual option due to less-than-expected order volume), but I haven't got a production date yet. I've still got 8 months left on my current 328i lease, so there's no huge hurry.

And yeah, I wasn't really interested in the 435. I already have the BMS Stage 1 for the N26 engine, so I am hoping to move that from the current car to the new 428. I've fallen in love with the N26 engine in the past 2.5 years...it's an incredibly flexible engine with fantastic fuel economy for commutes, and yet very strong (especially with the BMS Tune) power when you need it. I had the N55 engine in my previous E92; and it's a great engine (don't get me wrong), but for my uses...the N26 is really perfect.

exactly why I chose the 428 over the 435. My GC is my daily driver so I wanted the fuel economy for the 90% of the time I putter around. For the 10% of the time I drive like a hooligan the BMS or Dinan tune is perfect for me. I am just waiting for the Dinan N26 tune to become street legal in the California.

Question about your production date and the LD option. I realize that that you have not yet been given a production date however, were you given any idea as to about when you can expect production to begin? Sooner rather than later, and if later would that be due to choosing the Leather Dashboard option.

I ask because I have been waiting for 5 months for my 435GC to begin production due to the LD option

I'm ordering a coral red interior for a convertible and am now seeing some pictures online of the leather dash--which looks to change the entire dash to black? Any thoughts about longevity for the leather dash? Might it crack due to heat?

I'll be sure and let you know when I get assigned a production date. My current status is pending production but without an assigned date...so we'll see.

The fact that the leather dash removes the lower coral color on the dashboard was a must as far as my order was concerned. I'm just not personally a fan of the different color dashes...think it just detracts from the overall cohesion.

As far as longevity, I don't have too much of a concern myself as this will be a lease. With that said, leather dashboards are not anything new to BMW. This option existed as far back as the L6/635CSi of the 80s and those held up quite well to my knowledge. One just must condition the leather regularly to ensure that it doesn't become too dry to crack.

My car has entered production as of today! It states that production is scheduled to be completed on 02/15. Less than a month from order creation to production begin; not too bad at all. Perhaps this means that BMW has fixed their supply issues with 4M5/Leather Dash?
