You will LOVE that new B58 engine.
Your M235i's engine is fantastic, but you'll be pleasantly surprised at what BMW managed to do with this new 3.0 turbo.
It's not just more powerful, but it actually still likes to pull in the higher rpm range, and with an MT that should feel great.

I miss having a manual trans. My 135i had MT and had the twin turbo 3.0.
It was a blast driving that car even though the rear suspension tuning kinda sucked on those.
I went to the new ZF 8spd AT in the 2012 335i Msport as I really wanted to try out that new AT, and because my lower back issues were getting worse.
Using a clutch was really aggravating my spine issues. The ZF AT is a fantastic auto trans, and for me not having to use a clutch has nicely improved how I feel (less pain) after driving, especially when caught in Chicago highway stop and go traffic. I really do prefer the engagement and fun of an MT, even though this AT is amazing and shifts faster than I can with an MT.
For my '16 340i Msport I stayed with the AT for the health reasons, but the improved AT for the LCI was an added bonus to the fantastic B58 engine.

On the occasions when I flatten the loud pedal I'm just amazed at the power of this engine, along with it's smoothness and the AT's shifts.
With an MT I'm sure it will be a blast.

I'd be very interested to get your experience on the differences between the M235i and the 340i Msport.

Yea, the B58 is noticeable right away. I have test driven several with varying configurations. Xdrive/AT Xdrive/MT RWD/MT. The latter 6MT being a demo regional manager car. I was fortunate to check dealer stock that week to find a manualRWD to test drive.
I did contemplate the automatic, it is an amazing trans. If they had one on the lot with the specs I wanted it would have been hard to pass up.

Maybe the next gen G20 M340i will be my first automatic

I did consider MPPSK, but felt it might be too aggressive and the stock 340i is fast enough for me.
Also on a lease adding MPE was only around $25 per month while MPPSK was $100+
I only wanted a slight increase in sound, so MPE fit.
But Hell, there is still a long time before it hits US port so maybe Ill convince myself to just go for the full kit

Now that's a serious sports sedan. They don't make them like that anymore. Only sold with manual transmission - I love the balls of that. Don't like manual, don't buy one.
