Can wood trim be replaced?

Hi. I custom ordered a luxury line with the burl walnut trim but the anthracite was installed by BMW. Can it be replaced? Dealer says no.

Yes it can. They pop out super easy.

They just need to order the wood you ordered and then replace them.

wow that's super informative! Does anyone know how much the replacement trims cost?? Does BMW sell them or do I need to find a third-party myself (on here or eBay)??

If it's BMW's error (you ordered burl and they accidentally installed anthracite) demand your dealer do it for free (ordering the burl and install). No reason for you to pay for their error.

Anthracite looks waaaay better than burl walnut! Trust me. Most people want anthracite. Too bad it wasn't an option on my msport. I'd say just keep it. But that's a personal preference.

so your dealer made a mistake, and refuses to fix it?
I would demand a new freaking car, if you persist, they will figure it out and it will be magically possible.

that said, i agree with others, the anthracite is so much more classier than walnut. totally personal preference

One would think so. Unfortunately they broke my driver handle (the black part not the aluminum trim they put on) and passenger handle when they changed mine from anthracite to aluminum. Going tuesday to have both handles replaced. They also put tiny little dents in the aluminum on the driver and rear passenger handles but that may be my OCD getting the best of me. We'll see what they say at the dealership about that.

However, it is definitely doable and my dealer used one of the cars on the lot as the "donor" for the trim. Get them to do the same.

I'm interested in the antracite trim if you do end up getting it pulled out. I'm also local to you it appears. But, as has been said, the dealer should be making this right on their dime.

There are two types of burl walnut; the inlaid type is available with the luxury line and the more classic burl walnut comes with a satin metal trim finisher, only available with M Sport package. The latter trim looks much better, IMO.
I'm very happy with the burl walnut trim in my M Sport.

Yes I agree the burl wood in the M-Sport was a major disapointment.

I would also be interested in purchasing the anthracite from you if you get it removed.

Thanks to everyone for the many responses. I wrote the post around the time I was making the decision and agreed to accept the car as is for some monetary compensation (which i'll use to offset my new sport line wheel purchase)!! The dealer offered to order another car for me but I really couldn't handle another 6 weeks of waiting.

After spending sometime with the car and digesting the situation a bit, I'm fine with the anthracite. I still like the burl but the anthracite has grown on me today.

The car is awesome. Sorry for the slow response but I just washed it and put on a few coats of Zaino tonight!

Anyone want to buy some luxury line wheels?

Agreed. Burl looks really classy with the satin trim in the M sport. To each their own, of course.

Just so that people know, if you want to buy a set of the interior trim, it costs about 800 USD from the dealership.

I much prefer walnut burl to the anthracite. Shouldn't be a problem changing...let us know.

I kind of like them both now. If I were reordering I would probably still get the burl but the anthracite does blend in well with the interior. I have saddle with Jet black exterior so its a nice combo. It was raining here yesterday and today was the first time I had a chance to see it in the sun and I'm still OK fine with anthracite.

Ron...I agree with you completely. Anthracite is way too busy for me while the burl wood is understated and looks great.

OP could also do a "carbon fiber" wrap of the wood trim if he likes that look. I've seen some pretty good ones and would make the car unique looking and more sporty.

+1. The anthracite looks great in mine.

That said, I never wanted wood trim in my car, but what choice do you have if you want Luxury Line.
