Mini JCW

I'm preparing to press the button on a JCW LCI. Anyone got one? Thoughts?

In place of the 340i or as well as? Havent had a JCW but have had a three door hatch and daughter has a 5 door hatch - both Cooper. Not ideal for long journeys...but great fun. Guess it depends how you will use it....

Wife has got a fully loaded convertible - after a thousand miles itís nicely run in, great fun car. Itís her second, this one has variable dampers, certainly makes longer trips more relaxing.

These pics are with the suspension dropped 2-3cm to a fast road approach.

It's going to be my run around to the train station an back - the wife needs the 340i for the nursery run.

I looked at TRL's deal and that was pre LCI only, so I've gone for LCI with a few options.

Toying with the Golf R but doesn't look as special albeit faster

That looks unbelievable. What colour is it? I'm looking at Rebel Green, Red Roof and JCW stripes. Opted against Nav and Chilli Pack...

What's it like on the motorway?

That's the black after I machine polished it for a 1/2 day!

In the motorway it was....likely but lovable. Not for everyday long commutes though, nope.

Yes, gone for the LCI they had stock of pre LCI but given Mini are pausing manufacturing until May 2019 this should hopefully be a pretty rare car.

I'm 6'4" and when they gave me a standard Mini as a courtesy car I asked them if it was a joke.

Within five minutes I was grinning like a loon as it was a great little go-kart so your JCW will be a lot of fun! It was also way more roomier than it appeared too.

Congrats on the purchase!

Good move. The 2018 models get DCT if you fancy the auto models.

I would definitely spec adaptive dampers.

The armrest in manual cars is a PITA

Good point, try not to have this. ..... I might not have put the handbrake on correctly once and it .... might have rolled into my garage.

Seriously it does get in the way.

I did wonder that when I spec'd it, in my 340 I do use the armrest all the time. I'll see if I can remove it from the order

Any other suggestions for options?

Quite a good read Chris on the JCW Pro suspension aka KWcoilovers. Actually some excellent feedback in general. I read this many times before adding this to the dealer fit options.

Basically all win and very little loss on ride quality.....another near £2k though!

The big nav screen is essential IMO, centre dash doesnít look right without it!

Get the JCW exhaust or Remus valvetronic (with race pipe) on order ASAP!

The armrest is a PITA in the Mini (F55 in our case) but you can’t remove it from the order if you have specified Media XL, the large screen satnav. It’s an integral part of Media XL unfortunately and contains the phone cradle.

HUD is pretty useful too, particularly if you’re used to it on your main car. It is on a pop-up screen, but contains the same info and graphics as the F3x HUD.

One thing that still annoys me is that the iDrive knob works in the opposite sense in the Mini to the F3x. Given that I drive both, I’m always getting it wrong now.

XL Nav, HUD, HK - seem to remember this was a pack, together with VDC and 18ís. The seats are nice as standard but we wanted the soft leather so lost out unfortunately. Enjoy your car they make a great addition to a garage.

The pano roof is a nice option. It's really large. Lets in a lot of light. I realise it's expensive though.

HUD was nice in my car. Not as integrated as in a BM. But worked very well.
